Food Handler/Catering Services Associate

Catering Services Food HandlerCold Spring Harbor Laboratory is looking for a dedicated Catering Services Food Handler to join our General Dining Services team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing and serving food for daily dining, special events, and other food service functions. If you have excellent customer service skills, a passion for hospitality, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, we invite you to apply and be part of our dynamic team!Position ResponsibilitiesPreparing and serving food for catering & events servicesMaintaining and stocking service lines, beverage stations, and refrigerated areasFollow proper sanitation and food handling proceduresTrain, instruct, and supervise seasonal staff as requiredOperate cash register for general dining food linesProvide job assignment status feedback to the Supervisor of General Dining ServicesInteract in a courteous manner with clientele, fellow employees, and other supervisorsProvide inventory and product usage information to the General Dining Services SupervisorCollect weekly cash receipts and maintain the Point of Sale bankPosition RequirementsEducation: High School diploma or equivalentExperience: One-year in commercial food handling preferredSkills: Knife skills, basic equipment operation & safe handling practices, cold food preparation and serving, proper sanitation procedures, maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming. Proficient in Outlook and Excel preferred. Knowledge of a point-of-sale system preferred. Nassau County Department of Health sanitation certificate preferred. Ability to understand the Spanish language is helpful.Working Conditions:Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, constant standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, and turning. Receiving of information through oral communication and a computer. Exposure to heat and noise.CompensationThe hourly rate for this role is $17.72-$21.14. The hourly rate listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant for this position at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.
