Daytime Caregiver with Saturday Availability
Visiting Angels of Southwest Michigan is hiring dependable caregivers for daytime visits with older adults in their homes. We’re especially looking for people available for weekday mornings, often starting around 8:00 a.m., and some Saturdays .
Most visits are 3–4 hours, with some 2-hour visits. We match caregivers with clients based on location, availability, and skills so they can build consistent relationships.
What you’ll do

• Help with bathing, dressing, mobility, meals, light housekeeping, and companionship
• Support clients with dementia, fall risks, or other personal care needs based on your training and experience
• Communicate promptly with the office and provide reliable, professional care

• A consistent weekly schedule and dependable transportation

Pay and Benefits

• Starting pay of $17.25/hour
• Higher rates for eligible weekend and short visits

Scheduling and Hours

This is a flexible-schedule position, but caregivers must provide a consistent weekly availability .

We match caregivers with clients based on:

• Availability
• Location and acceptable driving distance
• Experience and care skills
• Client needs and compatibility

Caregivers with broader morning, evening, and weekend availability generally have more opportunities for hours. Hours are based on available client matches and are not guaranteed. Schedule gaps or client cancellations may occasionally occur.

What You’ll Do

You will support older adults in their homes by assisting with:

• Bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
• Walking, transfers, and mobility assistance
• Meal preparation
• Light housekeeping and laundry
• Medication reminders
• Errands, appointments, and transportation
• Companionship and emotional support
• Changes in condition or concerns that must be reported to the office

What to Expect in Home Care

We want candidates to understand the work before accepting the position:

• You will usually work independently without coworkers on-site.
• Client homes and living conditions will vary.
• Some clients may experience dementia, illness, physical decline, or emotional changes.
• You may need to transport clients in your own vehicle.
• Your schedule may include multiple clients and travel between homes.
• Dependable attendance is essential because clients rely on caregivers for their daily needs.

Requirements:

Applicants Must:

• Be at least 18 years old
• Have a valid driver’s license
• Have dependable transportation
• Provide proof of Michigan auto insurance and current vehicle registration
• Be legally authorized to work in the United States
• Be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
• Be comfortable providing personal care
• Be comfortable working independently in clients’ homes
• Be able to lift up to 50 pounds
• Be physically able to sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, and climb stairs
• Pass required background checks and drug screening
• Demonstrate dependable attendance and communication

Preferred Experience

• At least one year of professional or family caregiving experience
• Experience assisting with bathing, dressing, toileting, or other personal care
• Experience supporting clients with dementia or memory loss
• Experience with mobility assistance, transfers, or gait belts
• Experience in home care, senior living, healthcare, hospitality, housekeeping, or another service-focused position

Strong candidates without formal caregiving experience may still be considered if they have relevant personal experience, dependable transportation, consistent availability, and the ability to meet the physical and personal-care requirements of the position.
