Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Operating Room RN with strong liver, heart, lung, and kidney transplant experience for a teaching hospital assignment.

Details

• Work in the Operating Room unit of a teaching hospital with 230 staffed beds
• Day shift schedule, 4x10 hours from 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM
• On-call requirement of 1 shift per week plus two 12-hour weekend shifts per month
• Floating required within scope to meet facility needs
• Primary focus on liver and transplant cases, with other general surgery cases assigned when no liver/transplant case is scheduled
• Scrub color is Ceil Blue
• Charting performed in EPIC

Requirements

• Active FL or compact RN license required
• Current BLS certification required at time of submission; ACLS preferred
• NIHSS certification must be obtained prior to start
• Minimum 2 years of direct Liver/Transplant OR RN experience required
• Must have hands-on experience placing organs in the recipient, not just organ procurement/harvesting
• Proficiency with Misonix/CUSA required
• Experience with general surgical procedures including appendectomy, cholecystectomy, colon resection, hernia repair, laparoscopic procedures, mastectomy, and Whipple procedure
• Experience with electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources/cords, Hana Table, and Steris equipment
• Skilled in infection control, laser safety, specimen handling/labeling, Universal Protocol (time out) procedures, urinary catheterization, and wound management
• One professional reference required from a direct supervisor, ANM, manager, or director in the applicable specialty
• COVID-19 and flu vaccination required, with medical/religious exemptions only
• Negative 10-panel drug screen plus nicotine (cotinine) test required due to smoke-free facility policy

Additional Information

• Perform OR nursing duties across general surgery, transplant, heart, kidney, liver, and lung procedures, as well as organ donation cases
• Participate in emergency management and fire safety protocols as part of OR responsibilities
• Time-sensitive onboarding modules must be completed promptly once confirmed for the assignment
• EKG and pharmacology testing required during orientation, with a maximum of 2 attempts per test and no remediation for retesting
• Holiday coverage required on a rotating basis (every other holiday)
• All requested time off must be disclosed and approved at the time of submission
• Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Permanent or per diem employees of Cleveland Clinic must wait 1 year from their previous end date before returning
• Travelers may only be considered for one position at a time within the Cleveland Clinic Health System
