Summer Camp Substitute Counselor - Montclair Location: 155 Lorraine Ave., Montclair, NJ 07043 Camp Dates: 6/22/2026 (Mon) – 8/28/2026 (Fri) (including setup, breakdown weekends, and orientation) Camp Hours: 8:00 am – 6:00 pm (actual shifts may vary) Hourly Wage: $16.50 – $19.00 per hour, depending on experience and other factors. Job Responsibilities Staff members facilitate activities, build connections, and monitor safety and wellness. You may design and oversee activity spaces, or rotate in support roles. Activities include sewing, stop‑motion animation, maker space, performing arts, arts & crafts, lounging, recreation, and more. Additional Responsibilities Actively supervise campers Maintain organized, approachable activity spaces Ensure compliance with camp policies Report and record incidents, injuries, or concerns Track camper allergies and dietary restrictions Add daily updates and photos to camper profiles Candidate Fit Excited to guide kids who make autonomous decisions Calm under pressure and able to soothe others Comfortable leading groups while collaborating with a team Stamina to keep up with energetic 4‑12 year olds; can lift up to 40 lb Passionate about sharing knowledge and willing to learn from all ages Requirements At least 16 years old Minimum 2 months experience with camp‑age children (1 year preferred) First Aid & CPR certified before Day 1 (additional certifications may be required) Will willing to chaperone off‑site field trips if needed Physical Requirements Follow safety and health rules of the location Organize and maintain clean, accessible activity spaces Assist in camp set‑up and breakdown on move‑in/out weekends Stand for long periods while supervising and facilitating Participate in athletic games Benefits Eligible for sick time where local regulations mandate Equal Employment Opportunity Steve & Kate’s is an equal‑opportunity employer.
