Where You Will Work Located approximately 50 miles northeast of Safford, Arizona on U.S. Highway 191, Morenci operations (an open‑pit copper mining complex) has been in continuous operation since 1939. The operation consists of two concentrators, a crushed‑ore leach pad and stacking system, a low‑grade run‑of‑mine (ROM) leaching system, four SX plants and three EW tank houses that produce copper cathode. What You Will Do Assist in providing technical support and advice in metallurgical testing and analysis at assigned site under close supervision. Assist in metallurgical studies and conducting analyses. Prepare standard reports on metallurgical or process issues and assist in recommending appropriate action to resolve or correct issues. Assist in reviewing new or enhanced metallurgical testing equipment or protocols. Assist in evaluating and administering contracts with vendors for the provision of services and equipment. Develop and maintain an understanding of applicable programs, practices and existing/proposed local, state and federal regulations applicable to area of assignment. Perform other duties as required. What You Bring To Freeport Bachelor's degree in Metallurgy, Chemistry or related engineering discipline. Knowledge of the basic principles and methods used in metallurgical and processing analyses. Able to conduct research and analyze information or considerable difficulty to draw valid conclusions. Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions. Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Preferred Qualifications Assist in metallurgical study, development testing and analyses of designs, processes or procedures. Report on metallurgical or process issues and make recommendations to seniors or superintendents on how to resolve or correct the issues. Review and recommend new or enhanced metallurgical testing equipment or protocols. Contribute to the improvement of metallurgical processes. Strong commitment to safety, with experience training teams and maintaining compliance documentation. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment. Strong problem‑solving, decision‑making and pattern‑recognition skills. Strong commitment to driving operational excellence and fostering continuous improvement. What We Offer You The estimated annual pay range for this role is currently $80,000-$110,000 . This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job‑related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance. More details will be shared during the hiring process.
