Role Description:

This company is an agile development practice and mindset that uses agile principles (collaboration, communication, utilizing the right tools) to streamline software building, testing, and release. Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) is a methodology for streamlining software development and deployment, focusing on automating processes and enabling faster, more reliable releases.

The selected individual will support activities as a member of an agile development team for a large complex enterprise system. The position requires a dedicated software engineer who will work on a variety of tasks. She/he must have a willingness to learn and use new technologies and methodologies, with a focus on automating processes and ensuring efficient software delivery. She/he must consider the organization's entire IT infrastructure when making changes and improvements.

Responsibilities Include:

• Managing tools for development, deployment, and integrated testing.
• Integrating project functions and resources across the entire product life cycle.
• Identifying manual processes that can be automated.
• Selecting and deploying appropriate CI/CD tools.
• Implementing various development, testing, and automation tools, optimizing IT infrastructure.
• Ensuring that system improvements do not jeopardize system security.
• Striving for improvement, and building continuous integration, development, and deployment pipelines (CI/CD).
• Persevering when facing challenges, with a strong commitment to the goals.
• Collaborating with and assisting team members across the program as needed.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• To be eligible for this position you must hold an active TS/SCI clearance withPolygraph.
• Must have a solid understanding of this company.
• Must have at least 5 years of experience managing tools for development, deployment, and integrated test.
• Must have at least 5 years of experience working with CI/CD frameworks.
• Must have meaningful System Administration experience (mostly Windows but also Linux).
• Must have experience with IDEs (Integrated Development Environments) such as Eclipse, Visual Studio Code, Visual Studio, Rhapsody, WebStorm.
• Must have experience with software source control and configuration management tools.
• Must have experience working in a virtualized environment (managing VMs).
• Must have experience with container-based platforms for automated deployment of applications.
• Must have experience with software source control and configuration management tools.
• Must be motivated, flexible and willing to learn new techniques, technologies and adhere to best practices in test automation.
• Must have a strong understanding of sound software development principles and practices.
• Must be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
• Must be an independent thinker, capable of performing high quality work, both independently and with a team in a fast-moving environment.
• If not located at the MD location, some short-duration travel may be required to support quarterly PI Planning sessions in MD.
• To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the requirements for one of the following skill levels :
  • Senior: Seven (7) years experience as a SWE, in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline from an accredited college or university is required. Four (4) years of additional SWE experience on projects with similar software processes may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.
  • Expert: Fourteen (14) years experience as a SWE in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline from an accredited college or university is required. Four (4) years of additional SWE experience on projects with similar software processes may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.
  • Subject Matter Expert (SME): Twenty (20) years experience as a SWE in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline from an accredited college or university is required. Four (4) years of additional SWE experience on projects with similar software processes may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

• Experience with databases such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, SQL Server.
• Experience with Web Application User Interface Development, knowledge of databases and structures, Spring Framework, and/or experience working with AngularJS, JSON, HTML, XML, XSLT.
• Experience with the Scrum, Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) methodology, SAFe Agilest Certification, or experience as a member of an Agile team.
• Must be able to plan and prioritize tasks that support the team sprint goals.

Pay Rate:

In compliance with Maryland’s Equal Pay for Equal Work law, the annual base salary range for this position is $100,000 - $275,000. This range represents the base pay for this role and is provided in accordance with Maryland’s requirements to disclose compensation in job postings. Please note that actual compensation may vary based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate’s qualifications, experience, education, skills, internal equity, and market conditions. In addition to base salary, candidates hired into this position may be eligible for a hiring bonus of $10,000.00, subject to applicable contingencies and Navstar policy.
