Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Orthopedics Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 hours (07:00 - 19:30) Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Active RN license required Certifications: BLS required Must-Have: Previous charge experience required Travel experience required Epic charting system experience required Description: Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience is required. Previous travel experience is necessary. Nurses will work three 12-hour shifts during the day from 07:00 to 19:30. Every other weekend, Saturday and Sunday, will be required. No on-call shifts required. Floating to other units may be necessary as needed. Registered Nurses will be required to work charge RN shifts as necessary. This unit provides care to adults through geriatrics in orthopedic and medical-surgical patients. Telemetry monitoring is available on the unit. The department features a physical therapy gym to ensure patients receive adequate therapy without leaving the unit. High-volume patient populations include individuals who have undergone total joint replacements, fracture repairs, and kyphoplasties. Moderate volume patient populations include other surgical procedures, inpatient, and 24-hour observation patients. Registered Nurses must be skilled in accessing and managing ports, BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, and many other nursing skills. Patient ratios will be 5-6 patients per nurse during the day. The unit has a daily census of around 28 patients and is equipped with specialized equipment including CPMs and Buck's Traction. Nurses may also care for high-acuity patients as they may accommodate emergency department patients when necessary.
