TITLE: ASSEMBLER II

DEPARTMENT: MANUFACTURING

REPORTS TO: PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR

Perform a variety of tasks to produce quality products, meet or exceed productivity goals, and operate machinery correctly.

1. Perform the following necessary tasks to produce foam products: assemble, glue, cut, print, fold, press, inflate, seal, label, and pack, consistently meeting or exceeding productivity goals.
2. Verify that the product is being made properly and conforms to quality standards.
3. Capable of locating and organizing raw materials for production.
4. Minimize scrap through proper and careful handling of materials.
5. Correctly set up and operate production machinery according to instructions.
6. Must be fully cross trained in 2-3 jobs within the mattress department.
7. Understand the operation of production machinery to troubleshoot machine errors.
8. Basic understanding of lean manufacturing procedures and 5S.
9. Accurately complete and maintain all necessary paperwork.
10. Understand how to print and change labels using UDI.
11. Performs the more complex job functions on the production floor.
12. Notify supervision or maintenance of machinery problems or breakdowns.
13. Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
14. Support Quality Policy, Quality System, and follow established procedures. Propose changes to existing procedures through the supervisor, understanding that changes cannot be implemented prior to formal approval in the Quality System.
15. Follow safety rules to protect yourself, co-workers, equipment, and facilities. Report unsafe practices and conditions.
16. Participate in quarterly inventory as assigned.
17. Perform other duties as assigned by supervision.
18. Perform basic computer functions.

PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that an employee must meet to perform the essential functions of this job successfully.

This position requires lifting 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds; therefore, proper lifting technique is required. This is a standing position, and occasional bending, climbing, crawling, crouching, kneeling, overhead lifting, pushing/pulling, reaching, squatting, and twisting may be required. The performance of this position requires exposure to the manufacturing areas and requires the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

- High school degree or GED preferred

- 1-2 years of manufacturing experience preferred
