JOB SUMMARY: Under general supervision, the Fitness/Childcare Attendant is responsible for monitoring activities specific to fitness center and childcare room and ensuring a proper cleanliness and maintenance.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provides customer service while interacting with patrons, educates participants on how to use equipment and answers questions. Ensures fitness area remains clean and organized; organizes dumbbells, yoga mats, and other workout equipment. Disinfects and cleans all workout equipment and machines and performs hourly cleaning checklist. Admits members and guests into the fitness center in accordance with the established policy, checks proof of membership of each person seeking to use facility, and actively supervises the fitness and cardio areas. Childcare attendants are to maintain and supervise childcare room and children, admits members and guests into the childcare room in accordance with in accordance with established policies, and checks proof of membership of each person seeking to use childcare services. Performs opening/closing procedures, attends mandatory meetings and trainings as assigned, and follows emergency protocols and records and reports necessary information in the event of an incident. Performs other related duties as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Skill in public/employee relations and problem solving. Ability to learn recreation policies and procedures. Knowledge of basic mathematics. Ability to comprehend and follow written and verbal instructions. Must be able to work evenings and weekends and maintain regular attendance. Ability to operate a computer, printer, copy machine, fitness equipment, telephones, etc.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Must be at least 16 years of age. Must be able to work evenings and weekends and maintain regular attendance.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Stands for extended periods of time while performing daily duties such as, cleaning, supervising, etc. Bending and lifting to distribute supplies, equipment, and checking machines as needed.
