Hematology MD/DO - Hartford HealthCare Cancer Institute

Overview Hartford HealthCare, the largest integrated delivery system in Connecticut, seeks a board-certified/board-eligible hematologist to join our 20-physician medical oncology-hematology faculty practice at Hartford Hospital. The physician will join 3 other hematologists in the care of benign and neoplastic hematology. Hartford Hospital is an 867-bed teaching hospital of the University of Connecticut School of Medicine and provides postgraduate education for medical oncology-hematology fellows. The Cancer Institute is a charter member of the Memorial Sloan Kettering (MSK) Cancer Alliance, whose mission is to accelerate the transfer of knowledge from academic medical centers to community health care delivery systems. A new Phase 1 Clinical Trials Unit at Hartford Hospital recently opened through the MSK collaboration. Together with MSK, we have a shared care model for BMT patients with initiatives in telemedicine, data interoperability, and physician education that support improved care for autologous, allogeneic, and CAR-T cell transplant patients. Hartford HealthCare is the most comprehensive, integrated health care system in Connecticut with seven acute care hospitals throughout the state, and 1 in 3 Connecticut residents receive their health care here. This position will be located at Hartford Hospital, but through our systemwide Hematology Disease Management Team, our hematologists interact with colleagues across Hartford HealthCare to ensure one standard of care and to support our quality and research programs. Responsibilities Provide care for benign and neoplastic hematology as part of a 20-physician medical oncology-hematology faculty practice at Hartford Hospital, collaborating with 3 other hematologists. Participate in a systemwide Hematology Disease Management Team to ensure one standard of care and support quality and research programs. Engage in collaboration with the Cancer Institute and MSK Alliance, including telemedicine initiatives, data interoperability efforts, and physician education. Contribute to clinical care and research activities within the Phase 1 Clinical Trials Unit and in shared care models for bone marrow transplant (BMT) patients (autologous, allogeneic, and CAR-T cell therapy). Support post-transplant care improvements and participate in ongoing collaborations that advance cancer care delivery and clinical research. Qualifications Board-certified or board-eligible hematologist. Recent fellowship completion or experience as an academic or community oncologist seeking a challenging environment for growth. Interest in building a new model for cancer care delivery and clinical research within a collaborative team. Willingness to engage with systemwide teams across Hartford HealthCare to promote standard of care, quality, and research initiatives.
