Registered Nurse (RN) Med/Surg

Position: Registered Nurse (RN) – Med/Surg Job Type: Full Time | Nights Schedule: 3x12, night shift (7p-7a). Holidays and weekends required. Sign‑On Bonus: $20,000 for night shift with a 2‑year commitment for eligible candidates. Job Overview At Swain Community Hospital's 14‑bed Medical Surgical Unit, you will provide compassionate care to patients alongside physicians, advanced practitioners, RNs, and CNAs. With a 6:1 nurse‑patient ratio, you will assess and treat patients, document medical necessity, and participate in interdisciplinary care planning. The unit utilizes a self‑scheduling application. Responsibilities Accurately perform patient assessments and identify patient needs. Identify and initiate appropriate nursing interventions. Provide care appropriate to the condition and age of the patient. Perform timely and appropriate documentation related to medical necessity in the medical record. Complete and revise the Interdisciplinary Care Plan for each patient. Perform timely and accurate QI assessments. Requirements Applicants should have a current North Carolina or compact state Registered Nurse license and an associate’s degree from an accredited nursing school. American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support certification required within 30 days of hire. AHA ACLS and PALS required within six months of hire. One year of experience preferred. Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision in a stressful environment.
