We are seeking a dedicated Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join our Skull Base & Cranial Neurosurgery team. This role provides outpatient care and clinical support for three specialized skull base neurosurgeons, managing complex neurosurgical patients with conditions such as meningiomas, acoustic neuromas, pituitary tumors, and complex cranial pathology. Hours: Monday-Friday Five 8-hour shifts

Position Specifics: The APP will play a key role in patient evaluation, pre-operative and post-operative management, and long-term follow-up while working closely with a multidisciplinary team, including neurosurgeons, otolaryngologists, radiation oncologists, and neuro-oncology specialists.

The APP is responsible to set the standards for the level and quality of care. The APP has responsibility, authority, and accountability for the provision of care through supervision by and collaboration with a physician. The APP manages and provides patient care activities for a group of patients and their families through the application of independent judgment, communication, and collaboration with all team members. The role of the APP encompasses the beginnings of leadership, partnership, collaboration, and supervision. The APP establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with physicians, other health care providers, patients, and their families, to achieve desired patient outcomes throughout the continuum of care. The APP begins to demonstrate a commitment to the community and to their healthcare profession.
The successful candidate will be placed according to years and months of experience for employment purposes.

- Conduct comprehensive outpatient evaluations, including history-taking, physical exams, and assessment of neurosurgical patients.
- Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with attending neurosurgeons.
- Provide pre-operative counseling and post-operative follow-up care, including wound checks, imaging review, and symptom management.
- Order, interpret, and follow up on diagnostic imaging, laboratory tests, and other relevant studies.
- Assist in the coordination of multidisciplinary care, including referrals to neuro-oncology, endocrinology, audiology, radiation oncology, and other specialties as needed.
- Educate patients and families on diagnosis, treatment options, post-operative expectations, and recovery milestones.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for outpatient patient management, triaging messages, reviewing lab results, and addressing urgent concerns.
- Assist in scheduling surgical cases and coordinating pre-operative clearance.
- Maintain thorough and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Participate in weekly case discussions, tumor board meetings, and interdisciplinary planning sessions.
- Support quality improvement initiatives and contribute to patient care protocols within the department.

Licensure, Education, Certifications, and Clearances Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner ( CRNP):
- The successful completion of an approved nurse practitioner program is required
- BSN, MSN is preferred
- Professional nursing experience and/or nurse practitioner experience is preferred
- Current state RN license and CRNP certification are required
- National certification, eligible for licensure by Pennsylvania board of nursing, eligible for certification as a CRNP by Pennsylvania state board of nursing
- Current CPR certification is required
- ACNP certification preferred
- Act 34 Clearance required
- A graduate of a physician assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the physician assistant (ARC-PA) is required
- BS or MS candidate is preferred
- Experience as a physician assistant and/or experience in a clinical setting is preferred
- Current state PA license certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) is required
- Current CPR certification is required
- Act 34 Clearance required
