Registered Nurse – Oncology / Post-Op / Telemetry

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Full-Time | Days | 12-Hour Shifts (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM) | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 36-bed Post-Op/Oncology/Telemetry unit with typical nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:5–6
• Care for general medical-surgical and post-operative patients including laparoscopic cholecystectomy and appendectomy cases, as well as oncology patients presenting with complications such as neutropenic precautions, pneumonia, and infections
• Monitor and manage patients with chest tubes, including those discharged home with PleurX chest tubes
• Read and interpret telemetry strips using Philips monitors in coordination with a central monitor technician
• Titrate Heparin drips as required; no cardiac drips utilized on this unit
• Participate in weekend rotation (every other weekend, Saturday and Sunday) and holiday rotation alongside permanent staff

Required Qualifications

• Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Ability to read and interpret telemetry/cardiac monitor strips
• Experience with medical-surgical and/or telemetry patient populations
• Compliance with dress code: royal blue scrubs; no false nails permitted
• Must meet 50-mile radius requirement; valid unexpired driver's license required at submission

Preferred Experience / Skills

• ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Biotherapy certification
• Experience with chest tube management, including PleurX chest tubes
• Prior oncology nursing experience, including care of neutropenic patients
• Familiarity with occasional psychiatric patient care and 1:1 sitter situations
