Facilities Custodian

The Facilities Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment at a Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee location. This individual will ensure the facilities at one BGCGM location is well-maintained and comply with health and safety standards, creating a positive experience for youth, staff, and visitors. This role supports one location on the South Side of Milwaukee.

Responsibilities:

• Cleaning and Maintenance:
  1. Perform daily cleaning duties, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, and sanitizing all areas of the facilities (restrooms, offices, gymnasiums, and common areas).
  2. Empty and dispose of trash and recycling from all designated areas.
  3. Ensure all restrooms are stocked with supplies (toilet paper, soap, hand towels, etc.).
• Safety and Compliance:
  1. Use cleaning supplies and equipment according to safety guidelines.
  2. Identify and report maintenance issues (e.g., plumbing, electrical, or HVAC concerns) to the Facilities & Safety Manager.
  3. Follow safety protocols to prevent hazards or accidents.
• Facility Oversight:
  1. Maintain the inventory of cleaning supplies and notify the Facilities & Safety Manager when restocking is necessary.
  2. Set up and break down spaces for special events or programs as requested.
  3. Lock and secure facilities after hours when necessary.

Education Requirements:

• None required

Experience Requirements:

• Previous experience in janitorial or custodial work. Preferably over 2 years.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
• Attention to detail and dedication to creating a clean and safe environment for youth.
• Reliable transportation.
• Must have a valid WI driver's license, good driving record, and meet state required automobile insurance minimums.
