Senior Accountant

LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a stable and mission-driven organization to identify a Senior Accountant for a temp-to-hire opportunity. This role offers the chance to take ownership of financial reporting, general ledger activities, month-end close, budgeting support, audit preparation, and financial analysis while collaborating with leadership on organizational initiatives. Key Responsibilities Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and supporting schedules Manage general ledger activities, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations Lead month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting Perform bank reconciliations and monitor cash activity Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules Analyze financial results and investigate account variances Assist with budget preparation, forecasting, and financial planning activities Support tax filings and compliance-related reporting requirements Prepare management reports, financial analyses, and other ad hoc reporting requests Recommend and implement process improvements to strengthen controls and increase efficiency Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies Audit & Financial Operations Coordinate with external auditors and prepare audit schedules and supporting documentation Assist with annual audit preparation and financial statement reviews Monitor financial activity and provide recommendations to improve operational performance Research accounting issues and provide guidance to management as needed Support special projects and strategic initiatives across the organization Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field 5+ years of progressive accounting experience Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting requirements Experience with month-end close, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation Advanced Excel skills including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, and data analysis functions Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities Excellent written and verbal communication skills Preferred Experience Experience supporting external audits and audit preparation Background in multi-entity accounting, fund accounting, nonprofit organizations, trusts, healthcare, or similar environments Prior Accounts Payable leadership, AP supervision, or extensive AP process expertise is highly desirable Experience overseeing vendor payment processes, expense reimbursements, and invoice approval workflows preferred Familiarity with Concur or similar expense management platforms is a plus Process improvement and internal controls experience preferred Benefits while working with LHH Benefit offerings available for our associates include: Medical, dental, and vision insurance Life insurance Short-term disability insurance Voluntary benefit plans Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Our benefit offerings provide employees the flexibility to choose the type of coverage that meets their individual needs.
