Utility industry experience. Experience supporting NERC O&P and/or NERC CIP compliance programs. Experience supporting compliance audits and assessments.

Nice to Have Skills & ExperienceNERC System Operator Certification. CISSP, CISA, GICSP, GRID, or similar certifications.

Job DescriptionWe are partnering with a leading electric utility to identify a Principal NERC Compliance Specialist who will play a key role in protecting the reliability and security of the power grid. This is a highly visible position for an experienced NERC professional who is ready to serve as a trusted advisor, mentor junior team members, and influence compliance strategy across the organization. The company is seeking someone who can bring immediate expertise in NERC compliance while positioning themselves as a future leader within the compliance organization. The salary for this role is between 90-143k based on the candidates years of experience.

Day to Day: Lead compliance efforts related to NERC O&P and CIP standards. Support and prepare for NERC, WECC, and internal audits. Review compliance evidence and maintain audit readiness. Partner with operations, engineering, cybersecurity, IT, and compliance teams. Develop and improve compliance policies, procedures, and workflows. Monitor upcoming regulatory changes and assess business impact. Assist with self-reports, mitigation plans, corrective actions, and remediation efforts. Deliver compliance training and mentor junior team members. Provide compliance metrics and executive-level reporting. Act as a trusted advisor to leadership on compliance and risk-related matters. Help strengthen the organization's long-term compliance program and succession planning efforts.
