Sr. Accountant

We are partnering with an established manufacturer in Des Moines, IA to staff a Senior Accountant position. Reporting directly to the Controller, this role will play a key part in the monthly close process, financial reporting, account reconciliations, process improvement initiatives, and cross-functional financial analysis. This is a full-time, direct hire role that is onsite at their Des Moines facility but offers a flexible daytime M-F work schedule and opportunities for advancement. Key Responsibilities Maintain the general ledger, including journal entries, account reconciliations, account analysis, and month-end close activities. Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting processes. Serve as a key contributor for lease accounting, sales and use tax preparation and filing, and various financial reporting projects. Partner with internal stakeholders to support budgeting, forecasting, and financial decision-making. Identify and implement process improvements that enhance efficiency and strengthen internal controls. Support compliance initiatives, including Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements, control documentation, and policy adherence. Analyze business performance and provide meaningful financial insights to leadership. Assist with tax schedules, state sales reporting, and other ad hoc accounting projects. Collaborate across departments to improve the accuracy and timeliness of financial information. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field. 3+ years of progressive accounting experience with manufacturing industry experience preferred. Experience supporting or leading the month-end close process. Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial statements, and financial analysis. Advanced Microsoft Excel and strong ERP skills. Power BI and AI skills a plus Strong attention to detail, analytical ability, communication, and problem-solving skills.
