And we invest in our world-class team, empowering our colleagues to unpack their potential, because we believe when our people grow, so does our business.To learn more about playing for Team Amcor, visit I LinkedIn I Glassdoor I Facebook I YouTubeJob DescriptionPURPOSEResponsible for the organization, scheduling of manpower and directing logistics on a day-today work plan.RESPONSIBILITIESResponsible for the daily scheduling of logistics personnel to ensure proper manning in order to ship and receive products at the facility in a productive and cost efficient manner.Reports directly to plant management, providing status reports on inventory levels, as well as performance metrics.Directs the day to day activities of the logistics department which include shipping, receiving, housekeeping, maintenance and inventory controlShipping and receiving errors and the progressive disciplinary process in the area of counseling, oral and written warnings resulting from these errors.Responsible for overseeing maintenance of warehouse and warehouse equipment, providing both preventive maintenance programs and all necessary repairs.Responsible for overseeing carrier activity on a day-to-day basis.Ensures that warehouse personnel have safe, efficient equipment in order to perform the distribution functions.Responsible for warehouse safety programs in order to provide a safe and clean workplace for employees and with the regulations of OSHA. Local and state regulations.Administers cost control over all functions.Responsible for layout of warehouse for storing and staging customer returns, inventory control, special handling of product, scheduling of transfer materials.Responsible for layout of plant for storing / staging raw materials as needed by Manufacturing.Responsible for coordination of rail car moves, both into and out of plant inventory.Responsible for coordination of Purchasing and Accounts Payable functions within the plant.Interviews personnel for department.Assure employee/employer relationships are maintained.Analyze employee skills in cross training programs and arrange training as required.Recommend pay increases or promotions based on employees work performance and progress in gaining job knowledge.Conducts performance appraisals.Counsels employees as needed in regards to work performance, attendance, safety or other issues.Conducts employee meetings to keep employees informed on goals, company policies/rules and safety.Attends other meetings as required.Responsible for adhering to and executing the applicable Environmental Health & Safety programs in order to provide a safe and clean workplace for all employees according to Amcor, local, state, and federal requirement-regulations.QUALIFICATIONSMust have good speaking abilitiesMust be able to read, write and understand EnglishMust be proficient in Excel and Word programsAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers. Corporate, 3PL, and other Berry facilities Logistics Managers, Customer Service, Sales, outside vendors and customers by telephone, in person, through written and verbal correspondence.Self- motivated and superior problem solving skillsEDUCATIONCollege degree or 3 to 5 years of experience in a related field, desirably in a distribution and transportation environment.EXPERIENCEStrong leadership, communication and motivational skills.Knowledge of D.O.T. rules and regulations, city rules and regulations pertaining to truck trafficSAFETYAdheres to safety policies and procedures in compliance with Amcor’s guidelines. Visually inspects production area for tripping hazards, equipment safeguards and maintains a clean work environment.WORK ENVIRONMENTThe work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions on this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is constantly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. The employee is continuously exposed to temperature variances; extreme heat during the Spring and Summer and cold temperatures during the Winter.
