RN Labor and Delivery

Job Summary:


The Registered Nurse in Labor and Delivery is responsible for providing expert nursing care in a high-acuity, large hospital setting. This role involves circulating during labor and delivery procedures, ensuring patient safety, and collaborating with the interdisciplinary team. The nurse will perform assessments, administer medications, and manage treatment plans specifically within the labor and delivery unit. Strong communication skills and at least two years of relevant experience are mandatory.

Responsibilities:

• Provide skilled nursing care to laboring and delivering patients.
• Circulate during labor and delivery procedures, assisting medical staff as needed.
• Conduct patient assessments and monitor maternal and fetal well-being.
• Administer medications and treatments according to protocols.
• Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams including physicians, midwives, and other healthcare professionals.
• Document patient care accurately using electronic health records (Epic).
• Maintain compliance with hospital policies and safety standards.
• Participate in unit-specific initiatives to improve patient outcomes and quality of care.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Active Registered Nurse license in the state of practice.
• Minimum of 2 years labor and delivery nursing experience; no first-time travelers accepted.
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, AWHONN Intermediate (required), AWHONN Advanced (preferred).
• Ability to circulate in labor and delivery procedures.
• Experience working in large hospital settings highly preferred.
• Proficiency with Epic electronic medical records system.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• AWHONN Advanced certification.
• Experience in Magnet-designated acute care hospitals.
• Familiarity with hospital-specific protocols and charting systems.

Special Considerations:

• No first-time travelers or travel pairs accepted.
• Pending licenses are not accepted.
• Radius for work location is within 50 miles.
• Scheduling requests due to outside employment will not be considered.
• Facility may call off one shift per pay period (2 weeks).
• Scrub colors: Navy Blue for RNs; L&D/OR scrubs provided.
• Free parking available.

Scheduling:

• 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (night shift: 19:00 to 07:30).
• Weekend shifts may exceed every other weekend to accommodate unit needs.
