Security Engineer - API/Cloud Security

Salary: $56,000 - 73,000 per year Requirements:

• We prefer a bachelors degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, a related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
• We need at least 5 years of experience in cybersecurity, application security, API security, or closely related engineering work.
• We require a solid understanding of security systems, risks, concepts, and terminology.
• We expect hands-on experience with critical security technologies such as Linux, UNIX, Proofpoint, Windows, web applications, LDAP, DBMS, networks, firewalls, IDS/IPS, DLP, API security, DNS, and vulnerability assessment tools.
• We highly prefer intermediate to advanced knowledge in at least one of these areas: API Security, CSPM, SSPM, or AI Security.
• We prefer an intermediate understanding of Azure cloud environments, controls, and architecture.
• We prefer familiarity with basic scripting languages such as shell, PERL, Visual Basic, PHP, or Python.
• We need the ability to diagnose security, network, and system issues.
• We expect a strong understanding of infrastructure architecture, including networks, security tools, and operating systems, with the ability to advise leaders on the impact of these components.
• We need a strong grasp of API security risks, including OWASP API Security Top 10 vulnerabilities and current attack methods.
• We require the ability to communicate technical risks and remediation guidance clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• We prefer experience working with API security tools in containerized environments.

• We administer API security, cloud and SaaS security posture management, AI security tooling, and other firm platforms as needed.
• We troubleshoot and resolve day-to-day operational issues.
• We participate in Agile practices to help develop our security platforms.
• We identify gaps in security controls and recommend appropriate remediation.
• We support daily operational work across a large enterprise network.
• We may perform on-call work and scheduled tasks outside normal business hours for some functions.
• We provide technical leadership and handle complex system-level assignments.
• We design, implement, and support API security controls across enterprise applications, cloud services, and third-party integrations.
• We lead investigations and remediation for API-related security incidents, vulnerabilities, and compliance findings.
• We analyze API traffic and security telemetry to detect unusual behavior, abuse, and potential attacks.
• We guide and mentor junior engineers and security analysts on API security best practices and secure coding principles.
