Job Description Summary Awesome PRN opportunity for an experienced nurse interested in skilled care! PRN nurses are eligible to participate in the State Retirement Program. Responsibilities Deliver quality nursing care to patients through interpersonal contact and provide services to maintain the highest practicable physical, mental, and psychosocial well‑being. Report to the Director of Nursing (DON) or other nursing supervisor. Assist in the evacuation of patients and maintain excellent customer service and a positive attitude toward patients. Provide direct nursing care, nursing leadership, patient rights, and safety and sanitation services. Assign duties, instruct, and provide clinical supervision to Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs). Chart appropriately and in a timely manner. Monitor and report changes in patient condition. Communicate and function productively on an interdisciplinary team. Perform tasks requiring standing, bending, lifting, walking, reaching, and moving intermittently during working hours; lift up to 35 lbs from floor to waist, 35 lbs from waist to shoulder, and push/pull 35 lbs. Maintain confidentiality of proprietary and confidential information. Adhere to company policies including harassment and compliance procedures. Qualifications and Certifications Must have attended an accredited LPN program. Must be currently licensed/registered in the applicable State and maintain a good‑standing Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse (LPN/LVN) license throughout employment. One (1) year of geriatric nursing experience preferred. Must possess CPR certification upon hire or obtain it during orientation; certification must remain current throughout employment. Computer literate. English language proficiency (read, write, speak, and understand). Specific Requirements Advanced knowledge in the field of practice. Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action. Knowledge of skilled nursing facility practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines governing longer‑term care and short‑term rehabilitation functions in post‑acute care facilities. Ability to implement and interpret programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of clinical services. Maintain professional working relationships with all care team members, vendors, etc. Demonstrate integrity and professionalism by adhering to MUSC Health’s Code of Conduct and completing mandatory compliance training. Working Conditions Attends continuing education programs. Works in the department as well as throughout the facility. Subject to frequent interruptions, hostile and emotionally upset patients, family members, etc. Works beyond normal working hours, including weekends and holidays, and may temporarily fill other positions as necessary. Exposure to falls, burns from equipment, odors, and infectious waste or diseases, including AIDS and hepatitis B viruses.
