At Acuity, we are building a modern, scalable Customer Identity and Access Management (CIAM) platform to support our growing portfolio of digital products, customers, partners, and digital experiences across Acuity Commerce and other business units. As a Full Stack Software Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, developing, and operating the next generation of customer identity services that power authentication, authorization, user management, customer onboarding, and secure access across multiple digital products and channels. You will work closely with Platform Engineering, Security, Product, and Architecture teams to build highly scalable cloud-native solutions that provide seamless and secure customer experiences. This is an opportunity to help establish a strategic shared platform that will be consumed across multiple Acuity businesses and products.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

• Full Stack Platform Development
• Design, develop, and maintain cloud-native applications supporting CIAM capabilities.
• Build customer-facing identity experiences including registration, login, MFA, profile management, account recovery, and consent management.
• Develop scalable backend services, APIs, and microservices supporting identity workflows.
• Build responsive and accessible user interfaces using modern frontend technologies.
• Implement secure authentication and authorization mechanisms across web, mobile, and API channels.
• Collaborate with architects and IAM specialists to implement identity design patterns and standards.
• Customer Identity & Access Management (CIAM)
• Integrate applications with CIAM platforms such as Microsoft Entra External ID, Okta, Auth0, or other Identity Providers (IdPs).
• Implement: Single Sign-On (SSO) Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) Passwordless Authentication Federated Identity Customer Self-Service Registration Customer Profile Management Support B2B, B2C, and partner identity use cases.
• Implement customer lifecycle management and user provisioning workflows.
• Build identity APIs and services enabling secure access across multiple products and digital ecosystems.
• API & Backend Engineering
• Design and develop secure RESTful and event-driven APIs.
• Build highly available microservices and distributed systems.
• Implement integration services connecting identity platforms with business applications.
• Develop reusable SDKs, components, and shared services to accelerate adoption across engineering teams.
• Optimize application performance, reliability, and scalability.
• Frontend Engineering
• Develop intuitive user experiences for identity-related customer journeys.
• Build reusable UI components and design system integrations.
• Ensure responsive, secure, and accessible interfaces across devices and platforms.
• Partner with UX teams to deliver frictionless customer authentication experiences.
• Security & Quality
• Apply secure coding principles and industry best practices.
• Implement OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect (OIDC), and token-based authentication flows.
• Support threat modelling, vulnerability remediation, and security reviews.
• Build automated testing for application and identity workflows.
• Ensure compliance with privacy and security requirements including GDPR and customer data protection standards.
• Platform Engineering & DevOps
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines supporting platform delivery.
• Implement Infrastructure as Code using modern automation tools.
• Ensure applications are: Highly available Secure by design Observable and monitored Scalable and resilient Support deployment, release management, and operational excellence activities.
• Contribute to DevSecOps practices and platform automation.
• Collaboration & Enablement
• Work closely with Product Owners, Security Engineers, Platform Engineers, and Architects.
• Participate in agile delivery ceremonies and technical design discussions.
• Contribute to engineering standards, documentation, and best practices.
• Support knowledge sharing and mentoring within the engineering team.
• Help drive adoption of the shared CIAM platform across Acuity business units.

Skills and Minimum Experience Required

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related discipline.
• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Proven experience developing full-stack applications in cloud-native environments.
• Strong experience building RESTful APIs and backend services.
• Experience with modern frontend frameworks such as React, Next.js or Vue.js.
• Strong backend development experience using Node.js, Python.
• Experience working with relational and NoSQL databases.
• Experience with microservices and distributed architectures.
• Hands-on experience integrating with identity providers such as: Microsoft Entra ID / External ID Okta Auth0 Ping Identity Similar CIAM platforms
• Solid understanding of: OAuth 2.0 OpenID Connect (OIDC) SAML JWT Tokens Authentication & Authorization patterns
• Experience developing applications on Microsoft Azure (preferred), AWS, or GCP.
• Experience working with Git-based development workflows.
• Experience implementing automated testing and quality engineering practices.
• Strong understanding of Agile software delivery methodologies.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Experience working within IAM or CIAM programs.
• Experience building large-scale customer-facing platforms.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Entra External ID or Azure AD B2C migrations.
• Experience with Kubernetes and container-based platforms.
• Experience using: Terraform Bicep GitHub Actions Azure DevOps
• Familiarity with event-driven architectures and messaging platforms.
• Experience with observability tools such as Application Insights, Grafana, Prometheus, or Datadog.
• Experience implementing customer consent and privacy management solutions.
• Exposure to Zero Trust security principles.
• Experience supporting multi-tenant SaaS platforms.
• Exposure to AI-enabled customer experiences, agentic workflows, or identity services for AI ecosystems.
• Azure, cloud, security, or identity certifications.
