Emergency Room Technician

Receive 17 Weekday Nights 26 Weekend Nights and 15 Weekend Day shift differentials Compensation Disclaimer Compensation for this role is based on a number of factors including but not limited to experience education and other business and organizational considerations. Full Time Position Summary Assist in the nursing care of patients in the Emergency Center. Provides wound care and splints as required. Provide a safe clean environment and stocks patient care areas. Ensures adherence to Hospitals and departmental policies and procedures. Patient care assignment may include Neonate Pediatric Adolescent Adult and Geriatric age groups. Detailed responsibilities include: Patient care Clean patient care rooms equipment and instruments report equipment problems order and store supplies maintain appropriate PAR levels Assist nursing staff/physicians in complicated treatment procedures perform routine treatment procedures Identify and assess clinical situations beyond their scope and promptly notify a nurse and/or physician Provide oxygen therapy I.V. setup catheterization gastric lavage suctioning apply cardiac monitor and basic assessments under the supervision of RN or attending physician as requested Transport Transport patients collect label and transport specimens equipment supplies charts and materials to include arterial blood gas specimens Transport patients to other units or to in-patient testing areas Records & Support Maintain record keeping and filing system make photocopies run errands perform other support duties as assigned Perform Perform dispatch duties as required Provide direct clinical services to patients including screening and identification rehabilitative and counseling services as directed Equipment Assist with the provision of administrative support in regards to equipment maintenance calibration and statistical data compilation Policy & Procedure Follow established departmental policies procedures and objectives continuous quality improvement objectives and safety environmental and/or infection control standards Customer Relations Establish and maintain good rapport and effective working relationships with patients visitors physicians and Hospitals employees Assist Assist the nurse in the management of observation unit patients Wound Care Complete wound care process according to medical protocol under the direct supervision of RN or physician Development Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs reading current literature attending in-services meetings and workshops Patient Safety Follow patient safety-related policies procedures and protocols Demonstrate proactive approach to patient safety by seeking opportunities to improve patient safety through questioning of current policies and processes Identify and report/correct environmental conditions and/or situations that may put a patient at undue risk Report potential or actual patient safety concerns medical errors and/or near misses in a timely manner Encourage patients to actively participate in their own care by asking questions and reporting treatment or situations that they don't understand or may "not seem right"

Qualifications Education Essential High School or GED Equivalent Experience Essential 1 year directly related experience Nonessential Bilingual English Spanish Keres Tewa Tiwa Towa Zuni or Navajo 1 year directly related experience Credentials Essential CPR for Healthcare/BLS Prov or Prof Rescuers w/in 30 days Emergency Medical Technician Intermediate License Physical Conditions Heavy Work: Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects or people. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Medium Work.
