Project Manager — Airport & Conveyor Systems CraftForce client Ranger Steel | Airport / Baggage Handling & Conveyor Systems Division Location: Northern Kentucky / Greater Cincinnati area, based near CVG International Airport, with regional travel Classification: Exempt, Full-Time About the Role Over the past six years, Ranger Steel has built a strong and growing niche fabricating and installing structural steel and miscellaneous steel components for airport baggage handling system (BHS) conveyor projects, along with related construction work at airports and parcel/package sorting facilities. That workload has grown to the point that our current Project Manager, who has led this specialty since its inception, needs a partner to keep pace with demand and continue growing the practice. We are hiring a second Project Manager to help lead this growing book of business. This person will be based out of Northern Kentucky or the Cincinnati metro area and will begin by shadowing our lead Airport/Conveyor PM on an active project at CVG (Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport), learning our client relationships, airport-specific processes, and project delivery approach before taking ownership of projects independently. Key Responsibilities Manage assigned airport, BHS conveyor, and related structural/miscellaneous steel projects from award through closeout, including schedule, budget, job costing, submittals, RFIs, and change order management. Shadow and work alongside Ranger's lead Airport/Conveyor Project Manager on an active CVG Airport project during onboarding to learn client relationships, scope conventions, and airport-specific workflows. Serve as the primary point of contact for general contractors, airport authorities, engineers, and BHS equipment OEMs on assigned projects. Coordinate closely with the fabrication shop (Randy, Chris) and field leadership (Jordan, Andrew) to ensure fabrication and installation schedules align with airport project milestones. Navigate airport-specific requirements including security badging/SIDA credentialing, airside access rules, off-hour and phased work windows, and TSA-driven site protocols. Track project cost coding, labor hours, and per diem in coordination with the office per Ranger's standardized pay and per diem policy. Identify and help pursue new airport, conveyor, and sortation facility opportunities as the division grows. Travel as needed to active job sites across Ranger's operating footprint (Kentucky, Ohio, West Virginia, Texas, Michigan, Wisconsin, etc.). Uphold Ranger Steel's safety standards and site safety cadence on every project. Qualifications 5+ years of construction project management experience; structural steel, miscellaneous metals, or specialty conveyor/material handling project experience strongly preferred. Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent hands-on experience will be considered in place of a degree. Ability to obtain airport security badging/SIDA clearance, including background check and any required fingerprinting. Strong working knowledge of project scheduling, job costing, and construction documentation (submittals, RFIs, change orders). Excellent communication skills, with the ability to represent Ranger Steel professionally to general contractors, airport authorities, and ownership groups. Willingness and ability to travel regionally to job sites as project load requires. Based in or willing to relocate to the Northern Kentucky / Greater Cincinnati area. Preferred Qualifications Prior experience on airport, aviation, or secured-facility construction projects. Familiarity with baggage handling system (BHS) or parcel handling conveyor equipment and major BHS OEMs. OSHA 30 certification. Existing relationships with CVG or other regional airport authorities, GCs, or BHS integrators. Target base salary range dependant on relevant airport/conveyor project experience and overall construction PM tenure. This range reflects top-quartile positioning for construction project managers with specialty aviation/material-handling experience in the Northern Kentucky/Cincinnati market, consistent with Ranger's broader compensation philosophy. Vehicle allowance or company vehicle for regional job site travel. Per diem for overnight travel, administered under Ranger Steel's IRS-compliant accountable per diem plan.
