About This Role

ASSISTANT TEACHER QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must meet basic requirements of DHS licensing.
• Attend staff meetings and in-service training as required, a total of (18 hrs.) and (24 hrs.) for new staff.
• Must have the ability to relate to young children in a positive manner.
• Previous experience working with children preferred.

MAJOR FUNCTIONS:

• Assist the teacher in the implementation of daily plan of activities.
• Work with the teacher in maintaining a safe and healthy environment for children.
• Assist teacher in maintaining good communications with parents.
• Obtain in-service and yearly training requirements.
• Understand child care requirements.
• Keep Director informed of any classroom problems, change in schedules, such as playground, music and end of the year parties or any other activities.
• Assist in keeping the room well organized and arranged appropriately.
• Cooperate with other staff to create a professional environment.
• Assist in maintaining visual supervision of children.
• Assist in maintaining records.
• Assist in music, gymnastics, and any other needed areas.
• Make daily bleach water solution for cleaning tables.
• Prepare daily snack at appropriate time.
• Assist in cleaning room each afternoon prior to leaving.
• Any other duties that are needed to properly perform the job.
