Overview Aircraft Fabrication & Assembly (Aeronautical Non-Destructive Inspection) - Full-time Faculty Salary: $67,262.65 - $115,061.21 Annually Deadline: 6/12/2026 11:59 PM Pacific Full job description and OFFICIAL application available at: This position is a full-time tenure-track, 10-month classroom teaching assignment in the Aerospace, Industrial Arts, and Applied Technologies division. The current teaching load is 15 lecture hour equivalents per semester. Faculty are also responsible for 5 office hours per week and are expected to devote as much time as necessary to perform the professional responsibilities of the position. Participation in professional activities, curriculum development and campus committees is expected. The teaching assignment may include courses offered in onsite, online and/or hybrid format, evening and/or weekend classes. Representative Duties Teach fifteen lecture hour equivalents per semester in Aeronautical Non-Destructive Inspection (ANDI) using various teaching methods including demonstrations and active learning strategies. Maintain five office hours per week, including regular posted office hours accessible to students. Responsible for preparation time. Participate in faculty/division meetings; yearly program review; curricular planning, development, and implementation; student learning outcomes data collection and action plans; program learning outcomes development, assessment, and implementation; evaluation of educational programs; and college governance to advance the college's mission and strategic goals. Participate in faculty professional development and continuing education activities to maintain currency in the field, pedagogy, and student support strategies, especially related to student equity initiatives. Maintain records of attendance, census, grades, etc. Provide an environment conducive to effective learning. Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with all employees and others encountered in the course of work. Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students. Travel between District locations is expected. Performs other instructional-related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications for Faculty in California Community Colleges: Any Bachelor's degree or higher AND two years of professional experience, OR any Associate's degree AND six years of professional experience. Antelope Valley College Equivalency: Area: Aircraft Mechanics; College work, military training, or nationally recognized certifications equivalent to a Baccalaureate degree and two years of related occupational experience in the discipline; OR College work, military training, or nationally recognized certifications equivalent to an Associate's degree plus six years of occupational experience related to the discipline; OR Eight years of experience in the aircraft fabrication occupation, two years of which must have included supervision, instruction, trainer, or owner of an aircraft maintenance facility with emphasis in aircraft assembly or prototype construction. AND a sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students. Desirable Qualifications Bachelor's in Science degree in an academic subject area related to the assignment. Three years full-time, postsecondary teaching experience in Career Technical Education (preferably at a community college) OR 10 years of recent experience in training programs as related to the aviation/aerospace manufacturing/maintenance industries. Non-Destructive Inspection (NDI) experience as a company Level III OR American Society for Nondestructive Testing, Inc (ASNT) Level III Certificate in the method taught (e.g., Eddy Current, Ultrasonic Inspection, Magnetic Particle, Dye Penetrant). Industry certifications related to the assignment (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean Management). Possession of FAA certifications A&P and/or IA. Evidence of successful grant writing or scholarship awards. Strong applied aerospace industry knowledge with current certifications, training, and professional relevance. Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly using multiple instructional methods that support diverse learners. Professionalism, dependability, and collegiality in collaboration with faculty, staff, industry partners, and students. Engagement in governance, curriculum development, program review, and faculty development activities for continuous improvement. Shows initiative, adaptability, and problem-solving skills to support program needs and evolving workforce expectations.
