Journey Center for Safety and Healing Job PostJourney Center for Safety and Healing (formerly known as Domestic Violence & Child Advocacy Center) is a non-profit organization that fosters safety and healing for those affected by domestic violence and child abuse and prevents abuse through education, advocacy, and systemic change.Visitation Monitors transfer and supervise visitation between parents and children.Essential Job Functions:Monitor visits between parents and childrenMonitor transfers of children between parentsModel and teach appropriate parent-child behaviorIntervene in parent-child interaction when necessaryMeet with visiting parents before and after visits to review program expectations, establish consequences for inappropriate behavior, teach appropriate interaction, and make referrals as neededRecord all observations, interactions, and interventions; maintain monthly record of client interactions, other activities, and referrals givenPrepare planned activities for parents and childrenPerform cleaning, stocking, and shopping responsibilities as assignedConduct intake interviews as assignedConduct exit and follow up callsAdditional Duties and Responsibilities:Public speaking and community education, as necessaryAct as mentor for volunteers and student internsWorks as a team with other agency personnelTestify in court as orderedRespect, understand, and promote Journey Center mission, values, and goalsAssume additional responsibilities and perform special projects as needed or directedRequired Qualifications:High school diploma and 2 years of experience working with youth and familiesKnowledge, Skills, Abilities and Personal Characteristics:Good written and verbal communicationCommitment to child abuse and domestic violence preventionExperience in and commitment to building and supporting trauma informed organizations committed to equity, inclusion, and advocacyMaintain a positive attitudeAbility to incorporate Journey Center's Diversity, Equity and Inclusion value by modeling our work through a lens of equity and anti-racismAbility to incorporate Journey Center's Values into assigned dutiesEmpowerment- partner with people as they foster their strength and confidence and express their worthResiliency- Recognize and affirm the ability to overcome traumatic situations with persistence and determinationSafety- Experience the world without fear and to enjoy relationships based on respect and trustInclusion- Seek, value and learn from the unique perspectives of diverse individuals and to advocate for equal access to opportunities and resourcesIntegrity- Honest in our relationships, true to our mission in words and actions, and accountable for saying what we will do and doing what we sayConnectedness- Collaborate at levels to cultivate respectful, meaningful and supportive relationships that foster growth and well-beingPhysical and Mental Demands:Communicate with others in person, electronically, or by phone on a consistent basisRegular and predictable attendanceThis position description is not intended to be a complete list of all responsibilities, duties or skills required for the job and is subject to review and change at any time, with or without notice, in accordance with the needs of Journey Center for Safety and Healing.
