Data Center Technician

Responsibilities Install, configure, test, troubleshoot and maintain hardware (servers and components) and server software. Configure networks, routers, hubs, bridges and switches and troubleshoot networking protocols. Deploy and operate new data center infrastructure across projects or functions. Report issues and follow data center procedures to troubleshoot and diagnose straightforward equipment or infrastructure issues, and apply the resources needed to resolve them. Maintain security and integrity of data, tracking media to check for standard data security issues. Disassemble specific equipment that has reached its end‑of‑life for part replacement or maintenance in a team setting. Repair, fix, and perform preventative maintenance on equipment, servers, machines, or infrastructure based on identified issues with defined solutions and limited guidance. Qualifications Experience with component‑level repairs and troubleshooting on technical equipment. Experience diagnosing and troubleshooting operating systems, computer/server hardware, or networking protocols. Ability to lift/move 50 lb (23 kg) of equipment and to exert oneself physically over extended periods, including frequent bending, kneeling, climbing, pushing/pulling, and lifting. Must be able to work non‑standard hours, including weekends, night shifts, holidays and on shift‑based schedules as required. Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience (preferred). Completion of the Google IT Support Professional Certificate program (preferred). 2+ years of experience diagnosing and troubleshooting operating systems, computer/server hardware or networking protocols (preferred). Experience working within a data center or network operation center environment (preferred). Experience with component‑level repairs and troubleshooting on IT equipment or in a similar role such as Systems Administration, Network Deployment Engineer, Help Desk Technician, etc. (preferred). Ability to collaborate and partner with teams to overcome challenges, and to adapt to changes in a dynamic work environment (preferred). Compensation and Benefits US: $78,000 – $111,000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits. Eligibility for equity granted discretely by Alphabet Inc.
