Tasks of Position The following are core and essential responsibilities of this position. Associates are responsible for completing any and all duties assigned as required for the successful operation of our business. All associates are required to perform their job duties in a manner which upholds the integrity and honesty of our company. Reporting for assigned shifts on time, communicating clearly, and demonstrating suitable physical abilities to safely perform assigned tasks and duties, prepared to provide excellent service. Promoting sales and exceptional service through active discussions with guests, offering product recommendations, samples, and discussing current promotions and service information while on the sales floor or in the check stand. Understanding and performing requisitioning merchandise from suppliers based on space, merchandise on hand, and guest requests; receiving, opening, unpacking, verifying, tagging, pricing, stocking, and displaying merchandise; cleaning and maintaining all dairy cases; checking as assigned; and using "This One's On Us" cards to "Make Our Guests Crazy About Us!" Operating (at minimum) the following equipment in a correct and safe manner: com-line, phone, baler, box cutter, FM unit (handheld), pallet jack, six wheelers, symbol unit, cash register, and trash compactor. Communicating and completing guests' special order requests with accuracy and timeliness. Mentoring new associates or associates who are new to the department or task and assuring a positive learning environment. Finding a way to make our guests happy. Ensuring all work performed in the department is completed in accordance with all local, state, federal and company rules, regulations, and policies regarding workplace safety and guest services. Participating actively in the Grocery Department's accident reduction plan, including cleaning floors, sanitizing, recognizing shelf order and safety features of all machinery, store evacuation plan, robbery policy, case temperatures, and storing regulations. Education and/or Experience High school diploma or GED; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Language Skills Reads and comprehends simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Writes simple correspondence. Communicates effectively and pleasantly with guests, vendors and fellow associates at all times. Mathematical Skills Performs mathematical skills using units of American money and weight measurement, and volume. Reasoning Ability Applies common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form. Manages problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
