Associate Inspector/Inspector

Overview Marathon Petroleum’s Illinois Refining Division in Robinson, IL is seeking an Inspector. The Inspector will report to the Area Inspection Manager and will develop and execute inspection plans and life‑cycle management for refining equipment based on service, design, condition, jurisdictional requirements and more. Key Responsibilities Develop and execute inspection plans / life‑cycle management for refining equipment based on service, design, condition, jurisdictional requirements, temporary repairs and equipment replacements, Turnaround (TAR) dates, and inspection history. Prioritize and plan work within the assigned area team. Document inspection records, findings and recommendations in Marathon’s Inspection Data Management System (IDMS). Complete all required documentation and interpret and apply industry codes and recognized and generally accepted good engineering practice (RAGAGEP) codes and specifications. Develop, revise and maintain comprehensive inspection procedures, applicable guidelines and work instructions. Review and apply Management of Change (MOC) requirements and ensure all Process Safety Management (PSM) elements are implemented. Generate inspection requirements for projects within assigned units or areas and coordinate for larger‑scale projects with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance and Reliability departments. Coordinate services of contract inspectors / non‑destructive examination technicians. Understand critical process variables that affect equipment reliability, identify gaps, and lead gap‑closure effort. Provide repair, upgrade or modification recommendations based on findings, options and risk assessments in collaboration with management, Operations and Maintenance. Provide oversight for and facilitate quality assurance programs by auditing site work in areas such as DOT‑covered equipment, non‑destructive examination (NDE), visual inspection, IDMS data lifecycle analysis, PMI, welding procedures, heat treatment, QA/QC for projects and equipment replacement. Lead and drive continuous improvement in inspection‑related programs as assigned.
