Job Title Inspector – DC (Career Service Inspector) Pay Plan: Career Service Position Number: 70047219 Closing Date: 06/04/2026 Job Overview The Office of the Inspector General is seeking a Career Service Inspector responsible for conducting complex investigations, audits and inspections to protect public integrity within the Florida Department of Corrections. The successful candidate will lead investigations into waste, fraud, abuse, public corruption, serious employee misconduct and whistleblower reports. This is a sworn, non‑telework position required to report to the FDC office in their area of responsibility. Geographical Area of Responsibility Sarasota, DeSoto, Charlotte, Lee, Collier, Monroe, Glades, Hendry, Broward, Miami‑Dade, Palm Beach, Martin, St. Lucie Job Duties Conduct or lead complex investigations involving waste, fraud, abuse, public corruption, serious employee misconduct and whistleblower cases. Ensure investigations are performed consistently with IG Directives and FDC Policies and Procedures. Interview complainants, witnesses and subjects related to alleged violations of state law or departmental procedures. Write and review investigative reports and final findings. Perform investigative, administrative, financial and public corruption investigations. Conduct comprehensive whistleblower reviews pursuant to FSS 112.3187 (Florida Whistle‑blower's Act). Coordinate IG investigations with the Office of the Chief Inspector General and the Executive Office of the Governor. At least 3 years of full‑time experience as a Correctional Officer or Correctional Probation Officer. Valid driver’s license. At least 1 year of investigative experience. Preferred Qualifications Comprehensive knowledge of Florida Statutes related to Law Enforcement Officers’ and Correctional Officers’ Rights (F.S. 118.672 and related provisions). Highly skilled in time management and organization. Strong report‑writing skills. Strong investigative skills with emphasis on comprehensive investigations and interviews.
