Radiation Oncology - Physician

Overview Due to program growth, Carle Foundation Hospital is adding a Radiation Oncologist to Carle Cancer Institute in Urbana, Illinois. The role will involve external beam radiation therapy and brachytherapy. Experience or interest in high‑dose‑rate (HDR) brachytherapy for gynecologic cancers is a plus; performing HDR brachytherapy is not required. Practice Features The practice includes three Radiation Oncologists, three external‑beam units (Varian True Beam® with micro‑MLCs and regular MLCs), and an Nucletron HDR Brachytherapy unit. Clinical support includes 2.6 FTE medical physicists, four dosimetrists, and eight therapists. Treatment options comprise 3D, IMRT with Rapid Arc®, SRS, SRT, SBRT, lung SBRT, and gynecologic HDR programs. EPIC, ARIA, and Eclipse are used. Responsibilities Deliver patient care through external beam and brachytherapy treatments. Participate in weekly Quality Assurance Radiation Oncology Conferences and disease‑site tumor boards. Teach medical students and residents. Engage in clinical research; develop or support investigator‑initiated studies. Qualifications Board‑eligible or board‑certified radiation oncologist. Experience or training in external beam radiation, with preference for HDR brachytherapy training. Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team and attend case conferences. Strong academic background is desirable; research experience considered a plus. Compensation and Benefits Compensation range: $575,000 – $600,000+ per year, depending on experience, qualifications, location, and other factors.
