Position Summary Under general supervision of the Trades Manager performs new construction, electrical installation, preventive maintenance and repairs of the electrical systems in Pueblo of Santa Ana buildings, facilities and residential homes. This list of duties and responsibilities is illustrative only of the tasks performed by this position and is not all-inclusive. Under general supervision, lays out, assembles, installs, tests, repairs and adjusts electrical fixtures, apparatus, equipment, wiring and new service to include panels, breakers and circuits in Pueblo of Santa Ana public buildings, facilities and residential homes. Dismantles electrical machinery and replaces defective electrical or mechanical parts. Mounts motors, transformers and lighting fixtures and completes circuits according to specifications. Troubleshoots and repairs electrical controls, motor control panels and programmable logic controls. Services and maintains medium voltage transformers and switches. Responsible for overall operation and general maintenance of Pueblo generators. Estimates material purchases for electrical repairs. Installs and monitors the performance of electrical equipment for hazards, adjustments or replacement. Promotes workplace safety. Ensures all work areas are clean and organized. Responsible for maintenance of tools and materials and writes and implements a preventative maintenance program. Interprets blueprints, works from sketches or verbal instructions. Maintains logs and records of work performed and materials and equipment used. Assists other maintenance personnel or vendors as directed. Contributes to a team effort. Must be able to read and follow directions about assigned projects. Adheres to Santa Ana Pueblo’s Policies and Procedures. Performs other duties as required. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or GED. Must have 5 years trade experience with knowledge and ability to service and maintain electrical systems. Prior to start date, must have obtained a New Mexico Journeyman Electrician License (EE98J). Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen and background investigation including a motor vehicle check. Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico driver’s license and be insurable under the Pueblo’s insurance. Knowledge, Abilities, Skills, and Certifications Knowledge of electrical systems including planning additions or modifications to secondary circuits. Knowledge of general safety rules, requirements and procedures. Knowledge of electrical codes, regulations and guidelines. Ability to install and maintain motors, lighting fixtures, generators, circuit breakers and transformers. Ability to use appropriate tools and diagnostic equipment to repair, install, replace and test electrical circuits. Ability to diagnose and repair electrical controls, industrial motor control centers and programmable logic controllers. Ability to isolate defects in wiring, switches, motors and other electrical equipment. Ability to be trained in OSHA standard high voltage work. Ability to exercise independent judgment. Ability to work with hand and power tools applicable to the trade. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematic or exploded views of a variety of electrical fixtures or related items. Ability to establish and implement a preventive maintenance program. Ability to interact and maintain good working relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to work independently and meet strict timelines. Ability to communicate efficiently and effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to demonstrate excellence in everything, and continually seek improvement in results. Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk; and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee occasionally is required to sit. Considerable physical activity; heavy physical work; heavy moving, lifting, pushing, or pulling of objects up to 50 pounds is a primary part of the job. Use two-person lift when lifting more than 50 pounds. Work is generally performed in an indoor and outdoor setting where exposure to unpleasant odors, dust, dirt, fumes, and chemicals may occur.
