Nocturnist, Academic Nocturnist Physician

\nThe University of Oklahoma Medical Center is seeking a Board-Certified/Board-Eligible Academic Nocturnist to join our expanding Hospital Medicine Division. This is a full-time faculty role at a major academic medical center, offering the opportunity to deliver high-quality inpatient care during overnight hours while contributing to resident education, quality initiatives, and scholarly work.

Provide overnight inpatient coverage, including admissions and cross-coverage for general medicine and subspecialty services.

Supervise and mentor Internal Medicine residents and APPs during night shifts.
\n - \n
Participate in rapid response and code blue events in collaboration with ICU and ED teams.
\n - \n
Engage in departmental quality improvement initiatives and attend faculty meetings as required.
\n

Model: 7-on / 7-off

Hours: 7:00 PM 7:00 AM
\n - \n
Team: Nocturnist physicians, APPs, and Internal Medicine residents
\n - \n
Average Admissions: 68 per night
\n - \n
Cross-Coverage: Approximately 75100 patients across units

505-bed tertiary care academic hospital

Closed ICU model at OUMC
\n - \n
Procedures optional with support available
\n - \n
Faculty appointment with academic rank based on experience
\n

Salary: Competitive starting salary ($340K+), plus production and quality incentives; sign-on and retention bonuses available

Professional Development: $5,000 CME allowance; protected academic time
\n - \n
Retirement: 401(k) with 6% employer match + additional 3% employer contribution

Coverage: Malpractice provided, including tail
\n - \n
