About this Role:
The position will require the employee to plan and provide counseling to individuals, couples, families and groups. The position may require providing some case management to clients as required by the program plan. Employee may be required to provide professional presentations and educational programs as needed, under the direction and regularly scheduled supervision with the Program Director
Responsibilities:
- Knowledge of and experience with a variety of evidence-informed treatment approaches to clinical work with individuals, couples, families and groups. All treatment approaches utilized must be approved by the Agency.
- Firm grasp of the role of trauma in the lives of those served and an understanding of the interventions which are most effective with those who have experienced trauma.
- Ability to complete quality documentation including Medicaid Mental Health Assessments, Individual Treatment Plans and Medicaid billing notes according to Illinois Statue Rule 132 and 140, and ability to implement such interventions.
- Knowledge of, and ability to, understand and integrate the Illinois Mental Health Code, Confidentiality Act and the Illinois Child Abuse and Reporting Act.
- Firm grasp of the importance of partnership and collaborative problem-solving with those served, and other stakeholders.
- Ability to lead discussions, conceptualize well and communicate effectively; advocate for families and youth served; mobilize and educate families about formal and informal resources to support families.
- Meet all the requirements for paperwork and productivity.
- Develop and maintain working relationships with all internal and external customers.
- Flexible in meeting the needs of those served.
- Meet with Program Director on a regular basis and demonstrates ability to make effective use of supervision.
- Recommends diagnoses to Licensed Program Director.
- Participate in intake service and facilitates service needs through the use of agency and community resources.
- Prepare forms necessary to satisfy Agency's needs for accountability and assist in preparation of reports, formulation and implementation of related studies.
- Participate in compliance related activities such as record audits for peers and Performance Process Quality Improvement.
- Ability to organize and maintain data and confidential information.
- Develop and maintain working relationships with all internal and external clients.
- Participate in all external meetings including court-related events to fulfill case responsibilities.
- Must pass Illinois Medicaid Comprehensive Assessment of Needs and Strengths Test.
- Adheres to standards adopted through Council on Accreditation.
- Ensure safety protocols and policies are practiced at all times.
- Assumes responsibility for professional development and cultural competency.

Requirements:
Education and Experience:
- Master's degree from an accredited University in a human service field required.
- 2-4 years of prior experience in family, couple, and individual counseling required.
- Must pass Illinois Medicaid Comprehensive Assessment of Needs and Strengths test, if not currently certified.
- This position must meet the requirements for a Qualified Mental Health Professional as defined in the Illinois Mental Health Code, Rule 132.

- Must possess valid Illinois Driver's License in good standing and proof of valid vehicle insurance.
- Must pass required background check with Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS).
- Must pass background checks with Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) Health Care Worker Registry, and Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services OIG Provider Sanctions.
- Ability to be sensitive and understanding of cultural and lifestyle differences of all people regardless of race, religion, sexual orientation, age, or background.
- Successfully complete agency training as required.
- Possess knowledge of Illinois Department of Children and Family Services Policy and Procedure, and Illinois Statue Medicaid Rule 132 and 140 and the requirement of documentation and billing procedures.
- Utilize time tracking software and all other software required to fulfill duties.
- Ability to establish and maintain a client focus.
- Ability to set and maintain professional boundaries with clients
- Develop and maintain working relationships with all internal and external customers.
- Certification required includes First Aid, CPR and Child Passenger Safety.
Physical:
- Frequently move about the office environment, including walking or standing as needed to complete job duties.
- Regular use of hands and fingers to type, handle documents, or operate office technology.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment such as a multi-line phone, computer (single or dual monitors), printer, copier, and fax machine.
- Ability to sit for extended periods and occasionally stoop, bend, or reach overhead during routine office tasks.
- Occasionally lift or move items up to 15 pounds that are part of typical office operations.
- Perform all job requirements with or without reasonable accommodation.
Work Environment:
- Work occurs in and out of an office environment. Frequently exposed to loud noise and outdoor weather conditions.
- May be subject to difficult client interactions that involve behavioral or emotional challenges.
