Job Details Level : Experienced Position Type : Full Time Education Level : Graduate Degree Salary Range : $80,000.00 Salary/year Travel Percentage : Up to 25% Job Shift : Day Job Category : Education POSITION SUMMARY: As an instructional and support service specialist, the behavior consultant provides ongoing counsel and evaluation in curriculum programmatic and methodological techniques at both the individual and system level. Collaborating with instructional staff, school personnel, parents, and community resources, the consultant aims to enhance student outcomes, achieving established classroom objectives in alignment with the school improvement plan while embodying the NSSA culture. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Accountability: Handle and maintain NSSA finances ethically, honestly, and accurately with appropriate documentation. Provide clear, accurate, and timely records and documentation of graphs, reports, and IEPs in individual files for each student, readily available for review. Take initiative in performing additional tasks as needed or assigned. Participate in and complete periodic training and certification as required. Programmatic: Conduct formal and informal assessments of behavior management systems of students on caseload, including but not limited to the development of FBA’s, BIP’s, and positive behavior support systems, ensuring the efficacy of interventions. Serve on the diagnostic educational evaluation team to consider placement or program changes for children requiring special education, ensuring parental involvement. Participate in and/or coordinate various meetings (IEP, Department, and School) to convey and gather necessary information. Prepare diverse written materials (e.g., BIPs, FAB’s, Graphs) documenting students’ progress and ensuring goals and objectives are met. Assess student progress towards objectives, expectations, and/or goals to provide comprehensive feedback. Evaluate students’ progress and update programming according to written IEPs, selecting appropriate methods and materials. Perform daily data collection and maintain cumulative percentage recordings of each student’s progress. Advocate for and uphold the rights of supported students. Exhibit professional behavior towards students, families, coworkers, school personnel, and supervisors. Safety: Adhere to all safety policies and procedures in various environments, providing emergency coverage if required. Respond promptly to emergencies to resolve immediate safety concerns or direct them to appropriate personnel. Keep the supervisor informed of significant incidents, plans, and issues concerning students and employees. Professional Conduct: Provide positive and appropriate feedback to coworkers, team members, supervisors, and agency representatives. Prepare for, attend, and actively participate in all assigned meetings and annual reviews as requested by cooperating school districts. Maintain and adhere to the confidentiality of records/information according to HIPAA, State, Federal laws, and guidelines. Report all instances of abuse, neglect, mistreatment, and exploitation immediately to the appropriate supervisor. Responsible for completing all required documentation according to agency standards and timelines, including time sheets, incident reports, and important communications. The position requires tasks necessitating visual, manual, communicative, and analytic abilities within a team setting. Perform work in multiple settings, potentially requiring independent travel 50% or more of the time. Represent the organization professionally in various forums, adhering to professionalism in dress, conduct, and agency representation. Maintain all necessary certifications and licensing required for employment Qualifications Required Qualifications: 1. Required: Bachelor Degree in Education, Special Education, Psychology or related field. Master’s Degree in related field preferred . Required: Completed requirements for BCBA or currently enrolled in BCBA program. BCBA preferred . Preferred: New York State Certification in Special Education or Students with Disability. Demonstrated knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis principles Required: Valid NYS Driver’s License, acceptable driving history and proof of auto insurance. Required: Advanced language, written and computer skills necessary for communication and documentation. Ability and willingness to support individuals with challenging behavior. Ability and willingness to assist individual in activities of daily living including toileting and other self-help skills. Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and ability to lift, push, pull and hold 50 pounds or more. Ability to report to work location(s) during operating hours over a 12-month period, Monday through Friday, unless otherwise specified by supervisor.
