During this approximately 12-week program , you will gain hands-on experience across all aspects of store operations, leadership, and performance management. This role is ideal for individuals who are motivated to grow into a leadership position and are eager to learn how to run a successful retail operation. What You’ll Do Leadership & Staff Management Support recruiting, training, and supervising store staff Learn scheduling, payroll review, and employee relations practices Provide coaching and support to team members and program participants Store Operations Learn donation intake, product sorting, pricing, and merchandising Support strategies to meet production and sales goals Assist with maintaining store appearance, safety, and compliance standards Customer Experience Deliver excellent customer service and create a positive shopping environment Support customer engagement and retention efforts Model positive interactions for store staff Learn cash handling procedures and daily deposit processes Support inventory tracking and loss prevention practices Assist with maintaining store operations within budget Communication & Reporting Review daily sales and production metrics Communicate with store leadership and regional partners Support reporting and operational updates Training Provided Structured 12-week training program with hands‑on experience Development in store leadership, operations, and financial management Regular progress reviews and feedback checkpoints Opportunity for promotion to Store Manager upon successful completion and business need Why Join Us Clear path to Store Manager role Mission-driven work supporting community programs Supportive and team-oriented environment Additional Information Qualifications Required High School Diploma or equivalent 2 years retail experience (thrift experience a plus) Valid Driver's License Basic computer proficiency including POS systems Ability to pass pre-employment background check Physical Requirements Regular standing, walking, and manual dexterity Ability to lift/move up to 50 pounds regularly Occasional lifting up to 100 pounds Capability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch as needed Clear vision (close and distance) with ability to adjust focus Schedule Requirements Flexibility to work early shifts, late shifts, and most weekends Available for occasional travel to various locations for work or training Store environment with quiet to moderate noise level May experience temperature fluctuations based on weather The Salvation Army is an equal opportunity employer.
