Job Title Nurse Practitioner – Genetics/Genomic SC - ISM, Mount Sinai Hospital – Full Time – Day Responsibilities Assess the health status of patients and families through comprehensive health history and physical examination. Initiate and order therapeutic and diagnostic procedures, consultations and laboratory examinations; prescribe medication regimens; interpret findings and adjust plan of care according to accepted standards of care and practice guidelines. Educate and counsel on health promotion, maintenance, disease prevention, and management of acute and chronic illnesses. Document findings and plan of care in the patient’s medical record. Consult with physicians according to established standards, policies, procedures and protocols. Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served in the assigned area. Initiate referrals to specialty services and foster continuity of care. Participate in team meetings and conferences to enhance an interdisciplinary approach to care delivery. Maintain patient/employee confidentiality in management of information. Develop the plan of care based on diagnoses and individual patient needs; record, report and interpret the client’s responses to the plan of care. Perform patient record review with collaborating physician in a timely fashion, at least every three months when using a collaborative practice agreement. Complete the Focused Professional Practice Proctoring Evaluation (FPPE) or the Ongoing Professional Practice Proctoring Evaluation (OPPE) as required by Medical Staff for continued credentialing status. Practice as a member of the allied health staff in accordance with the rules and regulations of the Medical Staff and the bylaws of the Hospital Staff. Medical orders, progress notes and treatment plans are not required to be countersigned by a physician. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Perform history taking. Perform physical assessment techniques. Complete documentation of competency in specialty–specific procedures as part of initial orientation and annual performance review with collaborating physician or credentialed designee. Interpret and apply principles of nursing research utilization. Manage and coordinate a patient caseload. Work within a Collaborative Practice Agreement or Collaborative Practice Relationship Attestation as a member of the health care team in the area of practice. Maintain physical stamina and manual dexterity to perform a variety of tasks and skills. Exhibit excellent interpersonal, communication, creative problem‑solving, critical thinking and leadership skills. Education Requirements New York State license with current registration as a registered nurse. Certified by the New York State Department of Education as a Nurse Practitioner through a New York State registered Nurse Practitioner Program or equivalent, or by a national association via examination. Complete the pharmacy component of at least the required semester hours and the 3‑hour course on New York State and Federal laws relating to prescriptions and recordkeeping. Hold a Collaborative Practice Agreement with a physician and designated protocols if practicing less than 3,600 hours; otherwise possess a Collaborative Relationship with a physician based on employment in clinical practice at Mount Sinai Hospital and more than 3,600 practice hours. Experience Previous progressive experience relevant to the area of clinical practice is required. Certification & Credentials National Board Certification in Advanced Practice Nursing (required for all NPs hired June 1 2019 or later; may be deferred up to 1 year with approval). Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) certificate. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Neonatal Advanced Life Support (NALS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certificates as required by specialty. Compensation Statement The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for this role is $84.59 – $84.59 per hour. Actual salaries depend on experience, education and operational need. The range does not include bonuses, incentive pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
