FSQA Supervisor (Gonzales, CA BFG1)

Title: FSQA Supervisor Salary Range: $78,000 - $84,000 Annually Status: Exempt Days/Shifts: TBD Location: Gonzales, CA Reports to: FSQA Manager-BFG1 Overview This position is responsible for the coordination and supervision of the Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FSQA) functions for the assigned salad manufacturing facility. This role may provide support for FSQA teams at external cooler facilities, depending on location. Major Responsibilities and Tasks Ensure that all FSQA programs and procedures are implemented correctly. Ensure compliance with Federal, State, and local regulations. Increase awareness and evaluation of GMPs within internal operations. Enforce operational FSQA standards. Monitor, enforce and develop the plant FSQA program. Provide support for FSQA teams at external cooler facilities, as needed. Follow all food safety requirements and GMPs applicable to this position. Ensure integrity and continued operation of the food safety system during organizational or personnel changes. Assist with all third‑party, customer and regulatory audits. Manage, coach and train staff in correct procedures associated with programs such as in‑house environmental, microbial monitoring, sanitation pre‑op and other quality and food safety programs. Support special projects and other duties as assigned. Demonstrate thorough technical knowledge of Food Safety, Food Processing, applicable USDA and FDA Regulations, Food Allergens, GMP, HACCP as related to impacted proteins, both raw and RTE, and GFSI Certification schemes. Job Specific Competencies 2+ years in an FSQA role, Food Safety research or laboratory experience. 1–3 years of supervisory experience preferred, preferably in a processing or quality environment. Supervisory and training skills including: Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP); Hazard Analysis and Risk‑Based Preventive Controls (HACCP); Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI); Statistical Process Control (SPC). Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills. Knowledge of related Federal and State regulations. Competency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Access. Excellent communication skills. Ability to work in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment. Physical Requirements Ability to maneuver around equipment, bend, stoop, climb stairs and lift up to 25 pounds. Exposure to fumes and airborne particles. Occasional work in a cold environment (35°F on plant floor). Work Hours & Travel Requirements Flexible work schedule with alternating shifts including weekend coverage. Ability to work more than 40 hours per week as required. Experience and Education Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology, Postharvest Physiology or related field is strongly preferred.
