Job Title: Medical Laboratory Scientist Profession: Medical Laboratory Scientist Specialty: - Duration: 30 days Shift: Evening Hours per Shift: 10 hours Experience: Minimum 1 year License: Required - MT(ASCP) or CLS (ASCP) Certifications: Bachelor's Degree Must-Have Skills: PHLEBOTOMY LABORATORY PROCEDURES MICROSCOPIC PROCEDURES SEROLOGIC TESTING IMMUNOHEMATOLOGIC TESTING Description: Performs and interprets designated laboratory procedures. Performs serologic, chemical, bacteriologic, immunohematologic, and microscopic procedures and related duties to obtain data for use in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. Performs accurate and appropriate testing on laboratory specimens/collections according to established laboratory protocols and procedures. Reports results in a timely manner. Troubleshoots instruments, equipment, reagents, and patient specimen/product problems using standard laboratory techniques as required. Performs laboratory quality control, including reporting discrepancies and troubleshooting according to established procedures and protocols. Takes appropriate action to assure quality results/products are provided for use by physicians, nurses, and patients. Performs daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance and calibrations on instruments and equipment to meet all quality requirements. Conducts verification tests on new products, instruments, and procedures, which includes comparisons and statistical analysis as requested. Performs quality audit data collection, technical policy/procedure development, and inspection assistance under the direction of laboratory management. Maintains workflow in the clinical laboratory through proficiency in testing and maintaining work areas and supply stock, while assisting in the management of inventory. Assists in training and orientation of new associates. Promotes mission, vision, and values, and abides by service behavior standards. Performs other duties as assigned.
