The Live Racing Programs Seller is responsible for selling official Sam Houston Race Park racing programs and providing friendly, efficient service to guests attending live racing. This position serves as an important point of contact for guests entering the race park and helps create an engaging and welcoming experience from the moment they arrive.

The ideal candidate is outgoing, approachable, dependable, and comfortable interacting with a high volume of guests. The Live Racing Programs Seller should be knowledgeable about the purpose and contents of the racing program and able to assist guests with basic questions while maintaining accurate cash-handling procedures.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Greet guests in a friendly, professional, and enthusiastic manner.
• Sell official Sam Houston Race Park live racing programs to guests.
• Maintain an adequate supply of racing programs at assigned sales locations.
• Accurately collect payment and provide the appropriate change to guests.
• Maintain accurate cash-handling procedures in accordance with company policies.
• Keep assigned program sales areas clean, organized, and well stocked.
• Clearly communicate the price of racing programs to guests.
• Assist guests with basic questions regarding the racing program and direct more detailed racing or wagering questions to the appropriate department.
• Provide information regarding program contents, race information, and other available guest resources when appropriate.
• Maintain a positive and welcoming attitude throughout the shift.
• Monitor inventory and notify management when additional programs are needed.
• Assist with transporting and distributing programs to assigned sales locations.
• Follow all procedures for receiving, securing, selling, and accounting for racing programs and cash.
• Complete cash reconciliation and turn-in procedures as required.
• Maintain awareness of race schedules and major race-day activities.
• Assist guests in locating appropriate areas of the facility when requested and direct them to Guest Services when additional assistance is needed.
• Work cooperatively with Guest Services, Mutuel, Security, Food & Beverage, Racing Operations, and other departments.
• Maintain a professional appearance consistent with Sam Houston Race Park standards.
• Follow all PENN Entertainment and Sam Houston Race Park policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Guest Service Expectations

Live Racing Programs Sellers are expected to:

• Create a friendly and welcoming first impression for race-day guests.
• Provide quick, accurate, and courteous service, particularly during peak arrival periods.
• Maintain a positive and enthusiastic attitude throughout the race day.
• Be approachable and willing to assist guests with basic questions.
• Recognize that guests may be visiting the race park for the first time and provide assistance or direction when appropriate.
• Remain professional when interacting with guests of all ages and backgrounds.
• Help create an exciting and enjoyable atmosphere on live racing days.

Cash Handling Responsibilities

• Accurately collect payment for racing programs.
• Provide correct change and receipts when applicable.
• Maintain control of assigned cash throughout the shift.
• Follow all cash-handling and security procedures.
• Report discrepancies or cash-handling concerns to management immediately.
• Complete required cash reconciliation and end-of-shift procedures.
• Never leave assigned cash unattended or share access to assigned cash with another employee.

Qualifications

• Previous customer service, retail, cash-handling, hospitality, or sales experience preferred but not required.
• Friendly and outgoing personality.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to interact comfortably with a high volume of guests.
• Ability to accurately handle cash and make change.
• Dependable, punctual, and professional.
• Ability to remain positive and courteous in a busy environment.
• Must be available to work live racing days, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.
• Must be comfortable working outdoors and/or in areas with varying temperatures and weather conditions.

Preferred Skills

• Previous experience working at a racetrack, sporting event, stadium, concert venue, or entertainment facility.
• Familiarity with horse racing and racing terminology.
• Basic understanding of racing programs and how they are used by guests.
• Previous cash-handling or retail sales experience.
• Strong guest service skills.
• Ability to remain organized during high-volume guest arrival periods.
