We are looking for a Business Analytics/Data Analyst to support finance and operations through in-depth analysis of complex business data in Santa Ana, California. This is a Long-term Contract opportunity expected to run 3 to 6 months, with a hybrid schedule that includes two days onsite each week. The person in this role will translate large datasets into practical reporting, performance insights, and decision support for leadership while working closely with finance and technology stakeholders.

Responsibilities:
• Gather, extract, and organize high-volume financial and operational information from core business systems for analysis and reporting.
• Create and refine SQL queries, including developing new queries when needed to access and structure data effectively.
• Build dashboards, recurring reports, and visual reporting tools in Power BI and other reporting platforms to support leadership decisions.
• Perform advanced analysis and spreadsheet modeling in Excel to evaluate trends, productivity, and business performance.
• Develop analytical models tied to operational outcomes such as project costs, workforce efficiency, and employee-related returns.
• Deliver custom financial and operational insights on an ad hoc basis for finance leaders and other business stakeholders.
• Collaborate with technology partners to improve data access, reporting reliability, and analytical workflows across systems.
• Interpret datasets through an accounting and finance lens to ensure reporting aligns with business and financial meaning.
• Recreate or rebuild important reporting logic and query-based outputs when legacy processes are not readily available.• 7+ years of experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or financial analysis roles.
• Strong SQL skills with the ability to write and troubleshoot queries independently.
• Advanced Excel capabilities, including complex analysis, modeling, and data manipulation.
• Hands-on experience creating dashboards and reports in Power BI.
• Proven ability to work with large financial and operational datasets and turn them into actionable insights.
• Working knowledge of accounting or finance concepts sufficient to interpret business performance data accurately.
• Experience in the construction industry is strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with CMiC, Prophix, BusinessObjects, or project costing environments is a plus.
