Payette School District is accepting applications for the following coaching position for the 2026-27 school year: Assistant Cheer Coach – Payette High School Position Purpose The Assistant Cheer Coach supports the development of high school student-athletes by fostering skill development, positive attitudes, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Emphasis is placed on age-appropriate instruction, participation, and the development of habits of physical activity, responsibility, and respect. Goals Support the physical, social, and emotional development of high school student-athletes Teach fundamental cheer skills appropriate for varying ability levels Promote teamwork, sportsmanship, and respect for self and others Provide positive role modeling and encouragement Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive athletic environment Major Duties and Responsibilities Cheer Specific Assist with choreography, routine development, and competition preparation Help coach athletes in performance quality, timing, synchronization, and showmanship Support the physical, social, and emotional development of student cheerleaders while promoting school spirit and positive team culture Teach and reinforce fundamental cheer techniques, including motions, jumps, chants, tumbling basics, and stunting skills appropriate for athletes’ ability levels Assist in the safe execution of stunts, pyramids, and partner work, including proper spotting and adherence to safety guidelines Help prepare and lead sideline cheers, chants, and halftime routines to support school athletic events and engage the crowd Promote teamwork, discipline, and respect for teammates, coaches, officials, and opponents Provide positive role modeling, encouragement, and constructive feedback to athletes during practices, performances, and competitions Assist in teaching game-day leadership skills, including crowd engagement, school spirit promotion, and event participation Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive team environment where all athletes are encouraged to develop confidence and leadership skills General Assistant Coach Attend and assist with all practices, meets, team meetings, and required school-related activities, including supervision during events and field trips Assist with communication between coaches, students, families, and administration Monitor student participation and effort throughout the season Coordinate with the Athletic Director regarding transportation needs for meets and events Ensure student safety at all times and proper use, care, and storage of equipment Support fundraising activities as needed and follow district bookkeeping and purchasing procedures Comply with federal and state law, administrative rules, Board policy, and district procedures related to student-athlete safety, including concussion protocols Ensure students meet eligibility requirements, including academic standing and physical clearance Encourage student participation and help create a positive team culture that emphasizes growth and inclusion Model professionalism, positive behavior, and effective conflict management Maintain clear expectations for conduct, respect, and fair play Follow district athletic guidelines and high school activity standards Terms of Employment Employment is approved by the Board of Trustees and in accordance with federal and state law, administrative rules, and Board policy. Background Check Requirement All employees and applicants are required to undergo a criminal history check and fingerprinting. Applicants convicted of felony crimes enumerated in Idaho Code § 33-1208 may not be hired. Any applicant convicted of any of the felony crimes enumerated in Section 33-1208, Idaho Code, may not be hired, and any applicant convicted of any felony offense listed in Section 33-1208(2), Idaho Code shall not be hired. Evaluation The performance of this position will be evaluated periodically by the building principal in accordance with district policy and IDAPA 08.02.02.120. NOTE All certificated and non-certificated employees, as well as other individuals, are required to undergo a criminal history check and submit to fingerprinting.
