With flexible ways of working and meaningful development opportunities, you'll build a career you can be proud to stand behind.The Opportunity As the Federal Telecommunications Engineering Specialist, you will have the opportunity to:Lead communication designs and coordinate with other disciplinesCreate conceptual and detailed systems designs, including producing design drawings, specifications and design analysis deliverablesCoordinate with a BIM/CAD team for drawing productionPerform quality control duties and independent technical reviewsManage assigned budgets, scopes and schedulesMentor and provide guidance/instruction to less experienced staff membersMay perform fieldwork and write assessment reportsMay assist with creation of design guides and templatesMay provide support to business development or pursuit activitiesThe Team The Black & Veatch Special Projects Corp. has its mission to provide a full range of services to our primary client base - U.S. Government agencies and departments. Our primary areas of focus are: Architecture/Engineering (A/E) Services, Defense Program, Design/Build, Classified, and Environmental.Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of NEC, IEEE, EIA, TIA, BICSI industry standards, codes and best practices related to the design of Information and Communications Technology (ICT), low voltage, and telecommunications systems Strong knowledge of structured cabling systems from a safety and constructability perspective Strong knowledge of inside plant (ISP) cabling infrastructure to include telecommunications spaces and pathways, copper, and optical fiber cabling and connectivity Experience in outside plant (OSP) design of copper and fiber optic communication systems Experience in audio-visual (AV) system design 4+ years of experience designing applicable telecommunication systems Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) requiredMinimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in engineering technology or sciences preferred or any other degree, specialized training, or experience, that makes the individual uniquely qualified to perform the job responsibilities Minimum of 5 years of related work experience All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.
