Core Truck Solutions is seeking an experienced Technician III-Diesel & Heavy Truck/Equipment to service, repair, inspect, and upfit heavy-duty trucks and crane-equipped vehicles, bucket trucks, diggers or similar boom equipment. This role is ideal for skilled professionals who take pride in their work and want to be recognized and compensated for their expertise.

The ideal candidate has strong diagnostic abilities across diesel, gas, hydraulic, electrical, and crane systems, can work independently, and is committed to safety, compliance, and quality workmanship.

Core Responsibilities

Diagnostics, Repair & Technical Work

• Diagnose, repair, and replace complex mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and air systems on heavy-duty trucks
• Perform advanced diagnostics using industry-standard diagnostic tools and software
• Service diesel and gas engines, drivetrains, brakes, suspension, and hydraulic systems
• Independently troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical failures

Truck-Mounted Crane Responsibilities

• Inspect, troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and function-test truck-mounted cranes
• Work on articulated and telescopic cranes, bucket trucks, bucket trucks, diggers, aerial platforms or similar boom equipment
• Perform crane-related and other mechanical work in compliance with ANSI, OSHA, and DOT requirements
• Inspect and service boom extensions, outriggers, winches, hoists, and others

Maintenance, Compliance & Safety

• Perform DOT safety inspections and ensure equipment meets regulatory standards
• Follow all safety protocols and shop procedures
• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and identify potential failure points
• Identify wear patterns and failure risks before breakdowns occur
• Maintain clean, safe, and organized work areas in accordance with shop standards

Documentation & Communication

• Accurately document repairs, inspections, and maintenance for DOT, OSHA, and ANSI compliance
• Communicate repair findings, safety concerns, and recommendations clearly to management

Installation, Upfitting & Fabrication

• Perform equipment upfits and modifications as required
• Welding and fabrication work as required
• Hydraulic hose fabrication and custom installations
• Read and interpret wiring diagrams, hydraulic schematics, and OEM service manuals

Technical Leadership & Support

• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to Technician I and Technician II team members
• Assist in training technicians on diagnostics, repairs, inspections, and safety procedures
• Serve as a technical resource for complex repairs and troubleshooting
• Support quality control by reviewing completed repairs and identifying best practices

Work Environment

• Work safely in shop and occasional field service environments
• Ability to lift 50–75 lbs and work in varied indoor/outdoor conditions

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years diesel truck or heavy equipment mechanic experience
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, air brakes, and electrical systems
• Strong knowledge of back-end equipment including: cranes, diggers, buckets, hydraulics
• Welding, fabrication, or custom equipment build experience
• Working knowledge of DOT compliance and inspections
• Valid driver’s license
• Ability to work independently without constant supervision
• Ability to follow OEM service procedures and manufacturer specifications
• Basic computer or digital work order system proficiency

Preferred Qualifications

• Truck-mounted crane–specific experience
• NCCCO or equivalent crane inspection certification
• ASE certifications
• Brand-specific crane experience (IMT, Auto Crane, Stellar or similar)
• Valid CDL (class B or higher)
