Job Description
Job Title: Respiratory Therapist

Profession: Respiratory Therapy

Shift: 19:00 - 07:00

Hours per Shift: 36

Experience: Minimum of 2 years of NICU Transport experience

License: RRT/CRT

Certifications: NRP, PALS required; STABLE preferred; annual transport competencies.

Must-Have:
Neonatal Airway & Ventilation:
Mask ventilation, airway stabilization, ventilator management (conventional, HFOV, CPAP/NIV, HFNC), transport ventilators.


Transport Operations:
Transport physiology, isolette systems, equipment troubleshooting, oxygen management, EMS integration, safety protocols.


Critical Neonatal Care:
RDS, MAS, PPHN, BPD, sepsis, thermoregulation, hemodynamic support, early recognition of deterioration.


Communication:
Clear team communication, efficient handoffs, coordination with sending/receiving facilities.


Safety & Emergencies:
NRP skills, crisis management (equipment failure, respiratory decline), infection control.


Advanced skills needed:
Understanding of transport physiology (effects of motion, vibration, altitude, temperature).
Safe operation and troubleshooting of transport isolette systems.
Knowledge of ground and air transport safety protocols (EMS integration).
Ability to manage equipment restraints, power sources, and gas supply monitoring during transport.
Proficiency in documenting transport events, interventions, and patient assessments.
