Job Description Job Description Heart Transplant Fellowship Opportunity in Pennsylvania Overview of the Position: Location: Pennsylvania Position: Heart Transplant Surgeon Employment Type: Full-time Our organization is seeking a Heart & Lung Transplant Fellow to engage in specialized training across two high-volume services. The fellow will assist in the Heart and Lung Transplant services, gradually taking on more responsibilities towards achieving independence under the guidance of the co-chiefs of the division. This fellowship is structured around rotations. Besides surgical duties, the fellow will also act as a teaching assistant for junior cardiothoracic fellows and residents, contributing to bedside instruction, case-based learning, and organized educational sessions. Main Responsibilities Oversee daily management of heart and lung transplant inpatients, which includes pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative care, as well as ICU rounds and discharge planning. Facilitate multidisciplinary care in collaboration with transplant cardiology, pulmonology, advanced heart and lung failure teams, ECMO/VAD services, infectious diseases, pharmacy, physical therapy/occupational therapy, social work, and care management. Engage in organ offers/list management, selection conferences, operative planning, and participation in the operating room for transplant and related procedures. Contribute to quality, safety, and performance improvement initiatives within the transplant programs. Participate in on-call duties as assigned.
