Programmer

Hansen Talent Group is hiring a Mainframe COBOL Developer to support claims processing initiatives within a large enterprise healthcare environment.

This role is ideal for an experienced mainframe developer who enjoys working on complex legacy systems, collaborating across technical and business teams, and supporting critical claims adjudication and payment processes.

What You'll Do
• Develop, maintain, and support Medicaid MMIS and MEDS applications in a mainframe environment
• Make coding changes to COBOL and ADS programs using IDMS Network and Relational Databases
• Analyze technical and design specifications to implement application enhancements and fixes
• Perform debugging, unit testing, and integration testing for code changes
• Support QA, User Acceptance Testing, and External Testing efforts by resolving defects and implementing updates
• Collaborate with development teams, QA staff, operational teams, and business stakeholders
• Participate in production support and backfill activities for critical enterprise systems
• Contribute to smaller enhancement projects and upcoming FY26 initiatives
• Participate in an on-call rotation to support production systems as needed
• Communicate effectively with internal teams and contracted staff in a collaborative environment

What You'll Need
• 10+ years of Mainframe development experience
• 10+ years of MVS COBOL experience
• 10+ years of JCL experience
• 10+ years of IDMS/Network Database experience
• 7+ years of CA-ADS experience
• 5+ years of ChangeMan experience
• 5+ years of CICS experience
• 5+ years of VSAM experience
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in team-oriented environments
• Adaptability, flexibility, and strong time management skills
• Ability to work effectively in high-pressure production support environments
• Associate's degree or equivalent work experience required
