Diesel Technician

Position Description Ryder is hiring a Senior Level Diesel Technician with a CDL A or B in West Sacramento, CA. Hourly Pay: $40.24 per hour Certification Bonus: $100 for each new ASE certification obtained, up to $700 Quarterly Bonus: Up to $500 every quarter – four times per year Schedule: Sunday–Thursday, Second Shift 2:00 pm – 10:30 pm CDL A or B required Benefits Medical, Dental, Vision after 90 days 80 hours PTO your first year, starting Day 1 Yearly merit pay increases 401(k) company match PPE, uniforms, and boot allowance Paid training to build your skills Safety‑first workplace & state‑of‑the‑art equipment Top Tech Competition: Earn $250 – $50,000 per year U.S. military veterans – extra paid day off 15% company stock discount Up to $5,000 in tuition repayment for technical courses 12 weeks paid maternity leave (subject to eligibility) Employee discounts on tools, vehicles, travel, tech & more Requirements High school diploma or equivalent (preferred) Vocational or technical certification, post‑secondary degree or similar (preferred) Basic tools required Demonstrated aptitude and experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventive maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work) Basic diagnostics and repairs, including AC and electrical systems (required) Three (3) years or more relevant work experience (preferred) All other required certifications for the location (required) Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A (preferred) Minimum of 2 years of experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy‑and medium‑duty equipment Basic computer skills (PC, Windows, mouse, etc.) Must be able to obtain a CDL within 6 months after hire Pass a Ryder drug test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, and Ryder background & motor vehicle check (including drug/alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years) Responsibilities Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties, including standard and preventive maintenance Diagnose complex mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computers when applicable Complete complex and detailed mechanical inspections & repairs with minimal supervision Replace defective components as instructed Work unsupervised on most tasks and maintain facility duties Interact with customers/drivers to determine the nature of complaints Utilize key functions of the Shop Management System and electronic documentation Comply with all federal, provincial, and corporate safety, DOT, and MOT guidelines Act as a mentor for Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels Access and use internal and external maintenance documents Support duties such as Service Island support as needed Complete SBTIII training within 180 days and two OEM online diagnostic scan tool courses within 365 days (subject to location fleet mix) Contact Questions?
