Registered Nurse - PACU

Job Description

Job Summary:
Provides specialized post-anesthesia recovery nursing care to patients in the PACU, ensuring safe and efficient recovery following surgical procedures. Supervises and collaborates with healthcare team members to deliver high-quality patient care during the critical post-operative period.

Responsibilities:

• Assess and monitor patients' vital signs and overall condition in the PACU.
• Implement individualized care plans to promote recovery and manage post-operative pain and complications.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care.
• Educate patients and families on post-discharge instructions, including wound care and medication management.
• Document patient progress, interventions, and outcomes accurately and comprehensively.
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols, infection control standards, and organizational policies.

Qualifications:

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
• BLS certification from an approved vendor, required.
• Current ACLS or ARC-ALS certification, required.
• PACU experience preferred, with a strong understanding of anesthesia recovery protocols.
• Ability to assess patient needs quickly, demonstrate critical thinking, and execute appropriate interventions.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
